Today I stopped at Goodwill to check out the vacuums (what else) I dont know why I went in because their vacuums are usually VERY overpriced JUNK! I figured this would be the same, so I didnt expect much. they had a few overpriced junkies(2 eureka superbrooms @$4.99 and $7.99, a small plastic canister vac with nothing but the hose for $5.99,and a very well used front-bag eureka boss for $14.99) and then the one that followed me home: a Kenmore progressive upright. It cost me $9.99 but it was TOTALLY worth it! all it needed was a new bag and a good cleaning. It has AWESOME suction and is reasonably quiet. Its in great shape and I dont think its been used much. I am posting a picture, but the picture is not very good.

Had one a few years back, same model I think, gave to a family of 5 and they didn't kill it! I think that says something.

Congratulations, I love Kenmores. For $10 you must be really happy. You got a Panasonic for the price of a book!

that is an excellent model, we got ours and mother(who is hard on vacs) didnt destroy it.
The restaurant I worked at had one too, from around 2001, they still had it when I left there in Jan 2007. It says alot if it can hold up that long under such harsh conditions

Top-rated in Consumer Reports in the late 1990's....

Love the high-placed cord hooks! No bending to store the cord!!!

your Kenmore Progressive

looks just like my Panasonic... My problem with mine is I can't seem to get the bottom plate back on right, it kind of sticks up on one side,. Guess i will have to take it apart and try putting it back on again.. My aunt just gave the Panasonic to me because she says it keeps having a burning belt smell. All I could see wrong with it is the belt was streched way out and so I put a new belt on it and it works fine.It is a nice machine, it has the dirt finder lights, so I think it was a higher end machine. She replaced it with a Hoover windtunnel upright 100th year anniversary model. I told her she will like the Hoover... I have one just like it. But I don't use it because it doesn't clean as good as my Kirby!!
