This brings back memories for me too as I'm pretty certain my grandma used to have this vacuum. I would like to get one as well. |

Hey Rick A. ! Your Mom sounds like mine, except the fur would fly if I put ANY upright vac in her closet. With her, it was a canister or nothing. BTW, were you lucky enough to get your Mom's pink G.E.? Later, Trg |

I am still surprised that my mom wanted an upright vacuum sometime after we got the room sized carpet remnant, or the wall to wall carpet. First it was a red and cream Convertable from True Value Hardware, then the Concept with Power Drive, then the black Eureka Precision Boss I bought her twenty some years ago, to go with the black Mighty Mite she wanted so bad. Both are still here, and plastic or not, they only go when I'm dead.

Eurekaboy could you please post more pics of you collection? I notice that you have a lot of nice looking machines, and have always been a huge fan of Eureka vacuum. |

Steven, Great Pictures! In my opinion, Euerka's were some of the best work horses on the market. I don't think any other upright (sold in department stores) cleaned as well as the Eureka. Now that Sanitaire has added the ST Bag to the line...I don't think you can beat it for cleaning and improved filtration. Morgan |

I LOVE THOSE EUREKAS! I will never forget my grandparents Eureka 1931, which is still my favorite cleaner ever. I am still searching for one, but one day I shall find one! Apparently the story about the cleaner was that my grandma had had Hoover's all her life, so when her brown Convertible died, she deiced she wanted to try another brand. So she bought the Eureka. She had it until 2001 when my Grandpa bought her a Hoover Caddy Vac for Christmas and then she (evilly) donated it to the Goodwill. So for my 5th birthday (2002) I asked for a Eureka vacuum, not knowing that there was more than one model LOL! And I got a Eureka Boss, with a hard-cover bag in the fount! So every since I have been obsessed with F&G Eurekas and I grab every one in good shape at Goodwills. |

Eurekaprince Brian....You are more than welcome to come down to Falls Church anytime! There are plenty of Eureka's in my collection to try out. Norm...Thanks for the imput on the Eureka model numbers. As much as I love Eureka, I have found it difficult to find information on Eureka's. I had to go to Bloomington, IL last summer to see what kind of info I could research and to see the old Eureka HQ too! Stephen |

Stephen, where do you find all these immaculate cleaners?! I can't see a single scuff or scratch; they look like new! How long has it taken you to accumilate so many pristine machines? |

I look forward to visiting one day soon! By the way, the other two uprights I think are stunning are the gold 2072 Rugulator, and the blue Dial-A-Nap version next to it. Top rated by Consumer Reports in 1974, the blue version was originally Model 2042 and was a Best Buy. These two models are the design basis for the successful line of Sanitaire uprights still being sold on the market to this very day! |

Thanks Guys for the many compliments! Jack(VintageHoover)All of the Eureka's in my collection were either ebay finds, thift store finds and the generosity of some great friends! I started collecting back in 2004 and it has taken me a good 5-6 years to find all of these great machines. The first vacuum in my collection is the blue/white Eureka 1428A that is between a two tone blue Eureka 1416 and a red/white Eureka 1470. Stephen |
