I know they made some kind of shop vac or shampooer or something, and I would like to get my hands on one. In case you don't know, I have a start to the 1990's Dirt Devils, and I would like to get them all :). Just because they are Dirt Devil's best and I grew u with them. So, if anyone has this "canister wet dry or carpet cleaner" please post pictures of it. Or, if you have any 90's Dirt Devils, it would be greatly appreciated if you would want to part with them. Thanks :).
Chase

I know what your talking about, but I don't think I have any pictures on hand. I know they had a wet / dry machine and a shop vac looking rug cleaner. I'm not sure if they were the same or different machines. I think the rug cleaner was called the cyclone. While it was made in the time period of Dirt Devils that I collect, it is not on my list of stuff to get. It just never caught my interest as much as the others.

I did find a picture of a Dirt Devil wet / dry vac. This is not the thing you were after, but you might find it interesting.

there is also another version that looks a lot like the VAX 3in 1 system, however trying to find a dirt Devil Wet/dry vac is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack.

Ok, found one for you! See image and link.

I found the other one on craigslist. It was one of 3 or 4 that I found.

"and I would like to get them all :)"

Do you plan on getting all of the variants too? If so, its time for you to buy a warehouse someplace. I love pointing out how hard it is to find all of the variants of these machines. For those who thought that someone getting all of the 60s and 70s Hoover variants was tough, that's nothing compared to our challenge. For every version we have actually seen a picture of, I'm going to say there are 5-10+ variants that you have not. Every picture I have posted over the past week is just the tip of a crazy large iceberg with a size that I can't precisely calculate.

As I have posted in the past, I use Hescos part sheets to estimate the number of variants. Based on these figures you, and I, will need to find the following:

2 Wet Dry Vacs
6 Broom Vacs (more than 6, but I'll get to that in a minute)
48 Hand Vacs (some are probably very similar to each other)
33 Can Vac / Power Pak (based on totalvac.com listing for models using type F bags)
14 Classic / XF / Profile style Uprights
20+ (list not complete) Upright / Deluxe / Original MVP
??? Lite / Lite Plus / Feather Lite
8 Carpet Sweepers

131+ total. Probably closer to or in excess of 200.

In both the broom vac, hand vac, and Deluxe / MVP categories I have seen models that were not on the lists that I used to get these estimates. I have a broom vac and a hand vac with a model that is not listed. This makes for added complexity, and a level of uncertainty in what we are looking for.

I tend to specialize, and go for just hand vacs, and will in the future try to collect sets, such as Pro Series, Signature Series, and will probably try to snap up truly odd machines like the sterling jet that I posted in another thread. I also work with metal hand vacs, which adds dozens more to my list.

Have Fun!

Is there any chance that you would sell a Power Pak, or a Can Vac? and I do not plan to get them ALL, I should have not worded it like that. I have a pamphlet, and it is from a specific year, not sure which one, where I am pretty sure a handful of Dirt Devils were made. It had the Broom Vac, Can Vac, Power Pak, Deluxe, MVP, ect ect ect. I need to find the Classic, Classic Plus, carpet sweeper, Can Vac, Power Pak, and the Stick Vac. There might be a few more though.

Sorry, I actually don't have any Dirt Devil canisters in my collection. I just have a ability to find them for sale, especially when I don't have the money to buy them! The day I get some money they will all vanish!

Speaking of PNs, the one used on the current breeze (or something like that) canister is of the same design, just the wrong color.

true and this afternoon I found a design flaw of the Can vac
apparently when the bag has enough dirt in it the dirt stays to the back of the machine causing the machine to lose suction and over heat. I think this is the second time that I have used mine and I have a really hot motor and no suction. from the hose or the canister itself

Did they put ridges in the case like Electrolux, or is it smooth inside? I guess the bag is probably so small it wouldn't matter anyway. Do those machines shut off when they overheat? I know some cleaners will do that, including some ultra cheap models.

I can get a picture, I put a new motor in it and it was retrofitted to fit the Dirt Devil, so that may be the issue, when it has a clean bag in it this litte thing is a powerhouse.
