A sturdy machine from the 70s, had it once myself. Hardbody filter chamber, 4 height settings, top fill bag, cable winder.
For those who like it.

Cheers, Joe

70's?

They were made as early as that decade?

They were badged up as Hotpoints over here in the 1980s. Im lucky to have both models made for the UK albeit not in the 2 colours available for each model.

hotpoint

They have a really good cleaning and grooming action. They really do beat the carpet well.

Id love to try one of those! Machines like this that we never got over in America fascinate me. I take it these uprights were a direct-air design?

Rob

The red Hotpoint upright had a control for dry-cleaning carpets using powder, such as "Sapur", if I remember correctly.

Sapur yes your right Callum.

And nobody did tell them that Vacuuming really is FUN!

These upright cleaners really were a rival to Hoover, and still are a rival to todays machines. The uprights cleaned unbelieveably superbly and dont half groom rugs.

The tool suction for a dirty fan machine is incredible too. More powerful than Hoovers were.

They also have a longer than usual handle making it easier for taller people to use. The only fault I find with my Turbopowers, just not tall enough for me. Hotpoint definitely had the edge on Siemens/Hoover over this.
