Hoover has the stainless models listed again!
Are they still building them?

I see they have jacked the price back up to $249.99. TTI was dumping them in the marketplace at $150 last year at this time and many could be had nib for $100. I suspect they are left over stock from a very large warehouse in China. Perhaps a 'lost' container or two were rediscovered dockside?

I think most who have the mew SS or White one would agree it is a worthy re-issue of a classic. It is certainly more suction-powerful than any previous Constellation. It shoulda had a power hose and PN but that is easy to retrofit. The flexi-stretch hose that comes with it has only a single wire coil but any other wired hose with a pigtail would be a simple conversion to the new Connie's socket.

Dave - your theory sounds likely, I've seen it happen on other brand sites too. They'll get a consignment returned, often from the warehouse of a big retail chain, where the model in question has been replaced on the shelves by newer versions, etc.

Sometimes the manufacturer will discount them, but quite often, the price will go back to whatever it was when they were last widely available. Most consumers won't notice the difference!

I've noticed for quite some time that this is still on Hoover's website, but I think I'd call and see for sure if they indeed have these in stock. If you look closely at the listing for the Constellation, you'll notice that there is no "add to cart" button.

Well Dave, I wholeheartedly agree it was a worthy re-issue, and had hoped it would be the start of some more retro-inspired Hoover machines. With the TTI takeover, we know now that will probably not ever be in the cards. I have the pearl white Connie, and in all honesty find the turbotool it comes with nothing to sneeze at. While it doesn't have the power of a motorized power nozzle, it does clean my low pile carpets quite well. I wouldn't tamper with the machine to retrofit a power nozzle. There actually WAS an original Connie with a power nozzle in the Hoover vault. Also a Constellation made entirely out of lucite. I'm guessing TTI held onto those....

You'd also have to pay attention to your amperage with the combination of the suction motor and the power nozzle motor. I forget what the maximum amperage allowed is for 110/115 outlets. It's either 13 or 15 amps.

I got mine right before they had supposedly discontinued them last year for $150. Odd that they have come back though
