Hi,

Did Kirby ever make a Sani Em-Tor assembly (as opposed to the Mini Em-Tor) for the Heritage II and the Legend II?

Kirby had a Sani-Emtor for their shakeout bag system for the Heritage II/Legend/Legend II models.

Kirby had a Mini-Emtor for their disposable bag system for the HII/L/LII models.

I remember seeing the shake out bag and emtor in the instruction booklet for a Legend I used to have.

It probably wasn't standard, but optional like the small rug nozzle if you wanted it.

I suppose it was probably the same Sani Em-Tor body carried over from the Heritage (84) 1HD.

it was black hammertone and VERY rare. i've only ever seen 2 on ebay. one legend 2 like below pictured (ebay photo) and a heritage II. im lucky enough to get a heritage II shake bag from a phillip in kansas. ill probably have to fashion an emtor spray painting it black hammer tone and get a nos black emtor tray to match. originals are almost impossible to find.. ive been looking for over 2 years.

Will, and others,

I would think that both the Sani Em-Tor as well as the 13" wide nozzle (500 series/Sanitronic holdover) were never popular options during the entire 1981-90 period, correct?

sani emtor was the ONLY option until the heritage II. just had a filler tube that press fit into it like the tradition. though heritage and heritage 84's shake bags were still somewhat common, still not easy to find. luckily, my friend and i have 5 in perfect shape. starting with the heritage II, the sani emtor was EXTREMELY rare to see, as well as the accompanying shake bag; same with the small head. the small head was never a popular option thru any of the heritage series.

Heritage II Large Emtor Replacement Parts

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
Here's a list of the large Emtor replacement parts from the 1985 Heritage II service manual.

The unique replacement parts for the large Emtor are as follows:
179984S - Emtor casting
185984S - Emtor tray, black
186182 - Emtor tray gasket

It was used with the shake-out pocket bag, whose peculiar replacement parts are as follows:
189484S - Bag complete w/ pocket
189684 - Bag only w/ pocket

Other parts will be interchangeable with those for the disposable bag/Mini-Emtor setup, such as:
173681 - Bag support hanger
188056 - Emtor round rubber gasket
191684 - Bag guard
191781 - Bag top wire
191884 - Bag top cover
192284 - Bag top cover label
193281S - Bag clamp screw, pack of 25

Would I think the apparent rarity for the Sani Emtor/Sani Pocket setup on the Heritage II was because the shorter rear axle (as used on the Tradition 3CB and Heritage 1HD) had to be used for this setup?

I believe the Sani Emtor/Sani Pocket setup on the Heritage II was discontinued after the late 1987 update to the Heritage II Legend.
