I never met the man, but I don't think I'm wrong in saying he was an inspiration to us all. I will include him in the rosary. God bless you Stan, I hope you are up there keeping heaven spic and span with a Hoover model 700!

Actually, Air-Way would be more like it.

I hope Stan is having a great time sharing stories with other vacuum cleaner 'greats' like James B. Kirby, Boss Hoover, and a lot of others.

Stan
even though we only talked a couple of times I feel that I have gotten to know a great part of you.

my memory of stan is when I phoned him and started talking to him I asked him if he had any belt covers for my Hoover 700 he gave me the history on the 700 and then said "what is your address"? I said "huh" Stan said "your address... what is your address"? I gave it to him and about 3 days later a box was on my doorstep with the address of stan kann, after I got in the house I opened the box to find a Hoover 700 belt cover. I called him up and said " you had one" and he said " indeed I did" so we were on the phone for a couple of hours and I will never forget the conversation that we had. talking about the organ and vacuums. I feel as if I was talking to the man who invented the vacuum. Stan has left me with some of his knowledge on a few machines that I never knew anything about. I must say that every time I look at my 700 I will remember him because the part for my 700 came from him. I will never part with my 700
thank you stan
Happy Birthday
Mike

Great story Mike

That's the way Stan was! Kind, loving, full of fun and always there to answer questions about vacuum cleaners. Be it belt covers, instruction books, or just vacuum cleaner history, if he had it he'd share it.

When I told him I was going to form this club and asked him to be a part of it, he was shocked to think anybody would consider him. "I'm far too busy!" he told me, wished me luck and said "if you need historical data on Air-Way, or Hoover let me know!" I did, most of the early stuff came from Stan.

He was so proud of this club. I was proud to know him, and I miss him, but he left me with great knowledge. He touched me deeply, as he did with every one of us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear friend.

Stan never celebrated his birthdays, at least not while I knew him, and he would never tell me his exact age although I more or less figured it out according to the stories he told and the vacuum cleaners he described seeing as a boy. He was a bit vain, coloring his hair Audrey Hepburn brunette, although a few times he went for Lucille Ball red -- he joked one time that he bought "whatever color is on sale" hahaha! -- and he would never tell people his age. In the last year or so of his life he finally stopped coloring his hair, and one day he did finally tell me his age. But he told me not to tell anyone!

I sure do miss him, still. Even more so, in fact. We had so many good times and zany adventures together.

Age is a state of mind!

I'm just glad I got to know him and I often think back on the day I was house hunting and my buddy Scot drove me to L.A to see you and Stan, that was a fun day.

Thanks for sharing, I really miss that sweet man.
