My favorite plastic vacuum to use is my Hoover Innovation, and I have a couple of questions. Does anyone know if the new B style bags for the Hoover Light and Easy will fit my Innovation, which orginally called for a B style bag? Also, my roller brush is currently in excellent condition, but are there any others that I can replace it with when mine wears out? I know alot of people call it the Aggrevation, but mine runs flawlessly and grooms the carpet beautifully, but don't want to wear it out! Oh, one more question! When it's time to replace the belt, any suggestions which one to use? Thanks!

Hi there,

we had the Innovation in the UK as the Turbomaster - genuine belts are still available to order from Hoover's UK website, but the Activator is not. They do sometimes come up on eBay, though. I have a spare myself, but it's used and pretty worn down, so I doubt it would be of any use to you!

I thought the 'Aggrevation' came about because people found the belts hard to change? I can't see it myself, I've never found it a tricky procedure!

Hoover Type A

Use a Hoover Type A bag for your Innovation "formerly type B" according to the package.

Use it sparingly as parts aren't available.... It is a shame as they are great machines.

I have one too, and the brushroll is in good shape so I shouldn't a replacement for a while. I think they are called the Aggravation because they aren't easy to work on. I took my all apart to fix the handle to make it stay in the upright position... but my repair wasn't strong enough and didn't hold. It was pretty easy to take apart actually, and this coming from someone who has thrown out machines before because I couldn't get them back together. Extraditgitzz told me to make a diagram if I took it apart so I'd know which screw went where... it worked. Mine came with a B bag, and I can't tell much difference between that and an A bag. I'm just glad A bags fit since they are so common.

Vacomatic, do you have a picture of yours? What color is it? Mine's the maroon one, but the bag is pretty faded. I have seen a brushroll on Ebay before... they wanted 99 dollars for it! I paid 10 dollars for the entire machine, I'd never spend 99 for the brushroll! Have you used the attachments yet? I haven't had a chance to hook the hose up and see how powerful the suction is yet on mine.

Why....

Wouldn't you use the bag that Hoover recommended as a replacement to the type B, which would be the TYPE A??

I agree Dennis, but the fact that Hoover made two different bag styles with the same letter designation makes things confusing as anything. I can just see what would happen if Hoover created another Type W for a new model. Some nitwit would be trying to fit it into their model 61 with no luck.

I used to get a lot of Turbomasters in for service/repair and found that the activators rarely needed changing..or even the belts; it was usually some other problem, like a broken fan or field winding, damaged door or cable..unless it was the permabag models - the U5132s, which used to block up for fun!

I expect that the activators are obsolete now, though I've probably got one or two left, just in case. Even the new ones look worn to the un-trained eye. This is because there is a ridge sticking out of the roller, so the brush length is not as long as on most other machines.
