Hello, Everybody. I need to clear some space in my garage, as well as pay off my house in Amarillo. So, I am offering for sale some of my excess inventory of vacuums and parts for sale. Most of the vacuums to my knowledge, are in running condition. There are a lot of vintage machines, I will be posting pictures of some samples of the inventory that I have. Give or take, I am estimating that there are between 150 to 200 machines, plus miscellaneous parts--hoses, power heads, and attachments. I would prefer to sell all of the machines as "buyer take-all", which means I would prefer not to ship individual machines, as shipping is very high. I am flexible as to the total price for all of the machines--I would like to get $10-20.00 apiece for machines and would throw in the parts--powerheads, hoses, etc. for free. I have multiple machines of the same model and am setting aside 1 or 2 machines each for my collection and would like to sell the rest. I figure that for 150-200 machines, that a total dollar amount I would like to get between $2,000 and $4,000.00 for everything. I will be posting a few pictures as a sample as to what I have for sale.

Kirby G-4 in Background

Here's a quick "Head's Up"--The Kirby G-4 in the background I no longer have. I sold it a long time ago--Sorry! As for other vacuums I couldn't even begin to count how many I have, I know that just in my house alone, there's close to 100, and that's not even counting what's in the garage--so Needless to say there's a bunch--I need the space--These few pictures are just a sample of what is available, there's these and more, I would estimate 90 per cent of the machines are Lux although there are some other brands of machines such as Filter-Queens, they are the model 33, the light tan ones, plus all kinds of powerheads and hoses. Please feel free to call me at (806) 220-1014, evenings, after 5:00 please, I work during the day and cannot take your phone calls during working hours. Thank-You.

The Powerheads of the Eureka, Compact and Tri-Star...

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
The powerhead nozzles belonging to your Eureka, Compact and Tri-Star canisters appear to have all been made by Eureka, because they have the same design. I looked at all three with a good eye and there's no denying Eureka had made powerhead nozzles for canisters other than their own. Even some Rainbow powerheads were made by Eureka.

Love the red Compact

caligula's profile picture
Hi Nathan:

Seeing that red Compact brings back bittersweet memories.

You sent me one that was in the warehouse I bought. It, along with the Singer upright, were delivered the week before I lost Charles. HE loved the Compact, used it to clean his room and insisted that it be in the living room when not in use.

On the night that he died, it was in plain sight, perhaps the last thing he saw, so, yes, that picture is special to me. What you probably don't know is that the red Compact is now with all my other machines. In storage. But hopefully, that will all change. Plans are in the works for my partner Ira and me to go west and get my stuff back.

Also, if you are thinking of selling the Electrolux C-A (the box-like wet/dry machine) let me know. Perhaps we can work out a deal.

Glad you are back in my life good buddy.

Electrolux C-A

caligula's profile picture
Nathan:

I suggest a very sweet deal. As I paid you $350.00 for a warehouse full of vacuum cleaners in the spring of 06 and only got the red Compact, and an upright Singer.

As I understand it, you have 2 Electrolux C-A machines in your collection. This was the only comercial wet/dry model Electrolux ever made. If you are willing to send one to me, I'll consider it payment in full. In other words $300.00 pre paid for the Electrolux, the other $50.00 for shipping. This way, both of us win.

I bought that warehouse but never got to have the stuff I bought because Charles died and my life was hurled up side down. So let's make a deal. I get an Electrolux that I've wanted for almost fifty years, and consider what I paid you back in 06 the price of the Electrolux C-A.

As I said we both win!

An even sweeter deal

Nathan

I just thought of this. As my partner Ira and I will be flying to California in the near future to pack up my stuff that's been sitting in storage for three years; we can drive through Texas and pick it up. As I said, you put my name on an Electrolux C-A and we are free and clear!

Now here is all I need you to do. Make sure that there is a hose, two wands, combination rug/floor tool, combonation dusting brush/upholstry tool, crevice tool, power nozzel and if possible an instruction book. Please have the hose and p.n. match the vacuum cleaner.

I'm glad you are a man who honors his obligations, and I look forward to having a very special vacuum cleaner as part of my collection.

A very happy,
Alex Taber

Just to let everybody know

caligula's profile picture
As you've probably figured out by now, Nathan and I have repaired a friendship. The rift was the warehouse of old vacuum cleaners that I bought back in the spring of 06. I paid $350.00 for it sight unseen. but only got a few machines. Nathan and I haven't been in contact till today. He responded privately and we are now mending fences.

I'm sure you also know by the tone of the last few posts that Nathan has agreed to my suggestion and I now own a very coveted Electrolux model. That vacuum cleaner was introduced in 1962 for schools, hospitals and whatnot. My grandfather was the man responsible for cleaning all the buildings for Choate school in Wallingford, Connecticut. One day he brought this vacuum cleaner home so I could use it, but had to take it back to the school. I have wanted that model ever since.

Tonight I am one very happy man, dreams do come true!

My new Electrolux

caligula's profile picture
Nathan, can you post a few pictures of this machine so our members can see it?

This really is a sweet vacuum cleaner. As I said earlier it was the only wet/dry Electrolux ever made. I also mentioned in another post that back in 1979 I contacted the corporate headquarters of Electrolux to ask about this machine and got a terse, "it didn't exist!" Then a few weeks later I got a letter from the president of the company, Charles Mckee. He answered a number of questions, told me it DID exist, and sent a copy of the instrucuion book.

So a major piece of my collection has been acquired.

Thank you Nathan, and God bless you!

Got that

Hi buddy:

When you get a chance to post a few pictures of the C-A for everybody to see it would be great. As for me, I located that picture, and saved it in my "favorites" section.

Do you plan to attend next years convention? it will be in Texas, the name of the city escapes me at the moment. It will be our 25th convention, it's called the "Rainbow Roundup!"

Once Ira and I set a date to fly out to Calif. to get my stuff, I will let you know, probably early next year.

You have no idea how happy I am that we are talking to each other. You were always my friend, and I'm sorry if my lack of comunication caused you to think we were not friends.

And let me state here, publically that I admire you for accepting responsibility, and helping to solve a problem.

Your buddy,
Alex Taber.

Not to change the subject, but your Compact's power head looks like a Rainbow's to me? I never seen a Compact with one of those.

Compact Powerheads

Basically all the older style powerheads like the ones pictured on the Compact and Tri-stars, are ones made by Eureka. Same with the first Rainbow/Rexairs. Eureka made a lot of powerheads for different machines. Compact, Eureka and Rainbow/Rexair just had their names put on the heads. All the older style heads use Eureka Parts--Motors, brush-rolls, belts and bushings.
