I watched them demo this Lux on QVC yesterday so I had to go and get mine out for a run. This is one of the quietest machines I have ever used. It it also one the easiest cleaners to use. Very user friendly. Even the power nozzle is so and quiet. I was amazed at how much the ANTI-ODER bag holds and still maintains the suction.
Also love the lights on top of machine to indicate full bag, hepa filter replacement, power on. I gave the power nozzle the real test today by accidently dropping down the stairs!
No damage to the light or power nozzle.

Electrolux Quiet Clean

I tried to catch the blue lights on the top of the Lux and the power nozzle. Has anyone tried the new turbo nozzle they have for the furniture? With all the new vacs with "screeming" motors it is quite a change to use a quiet machine and no musty or dusty oder and no darn containers to empty with a cloud of dust.

Hi Rob -

Does that hose connection at the machine rotate? Or is it fixed in that position? Thanks. John L.

I have always wanted one of those for a canister daily driver. Looks like a well built vacuum

NIce Machine,Rob

I think that would be a great machine to have. I personally have always wanted the upright that matches that one. Bid on
one from Craigs a couple of years back and missed out on it.
People were moving out of state and selling it !

John,
Yes the hose rotates at both ends. Handles very easy with the big wheels on the canister. You can't make the machine tip over even if you try.
Norm,
I wish I had known you wanted the matching upright as I JUST sold mine LAST week on Craig's list. I would have been glad for you to have the machine.

Are the bags "charcoalized?"

Normally I don't like electrolux "Oxygen" vacuums becuase of reliability and durability issues.hope this has been improved in the machine shown.Oxygens have frequent wand connector failures, hose failures(wiring and connectors)and the suction motor in the canister likes to "self destruct" like an airplane engine in a test stand-saw all of this at the two vacuum places out here.I wonder if the bag is this machine is the Filtrete "Arm and Hammer" bags like what is used in the newer Sanitaire upriughts-they are impregnated with baking soda to cut odors.Works well in the two Sanitaires I have.

I've always thought those looked like nice cleaners - it's a pity we never have powernozzles like that over here!

Jack,
Why is it that you don't see as many power nozzle's in English versions? I thought maybe you didn't have the same types of rugs?
Just for you I tried to get the picture to show all the blue lights on both the top of the machine and the power nozzle!
They tell you when to replace bag, hepa filter, where you are on "automatic" suction control or low or high speed. The power nozzle lights on top indicate what "level" your power nozzle is set and a red light comes on if the power nozzle jams and stops. Looks cool at night. This would not be a good cleaner for people who drop or treat their machines with little care because of the electronics. I have dropped the power nozzle down a flight of stairs (per my cocker spaniel) without any damage to led lights. I have been told by vac repair shop they have made corrections on electric wands and motor from early production.
Thanks again Jack for all your information on the Dysons!
Rob

Great vacuums, but.....

I am a bit annoyed at Electrolux for not going the extra mile (extra kilometre?) and providing a proper way to store all the attachments. I have never been a big fan of models that have overly bulky, "gas-pump" hose handles, because I can't sneak the hose into tight spots as I can with the old fashioned simpler hoses. And so adding an attachment holder to the handle makes matters worse. The earlier version of the North American power nozzle Oxygen (Model 6988) has continuously been top-rated by Consumer Reports, but it too did not provide a proper way to store all the tools. Electrolux concocted a tool-holder that slid into the "parking" slot on the back of the unit, which was fine until you needed to turn the vac on its tuches for storage or stair cleaning.

I know that this new version of the Oxygen stores a dusting brush and crevice tool under the hose handle, but why did they forget about the upholstery nozzle? This little thing has to get left behind in the back of the closet along with the fancy floor brush.

It bugs me that all the manufacturers have decided not to provide old-fashioned tool boxes or wall-units, especially since you are already paying over $400 for these vacs. And the last time I saw a vac-maker provide on-board storage for all 4 basic tools (dusting, crevice, upholstery, floor) was the Kenmore Progressive version of 2001, and the Hoover Powermax of the 1990's.

I know that some of the Royal suction canister vacs provide clips for all 4 tools on the wand, but can you imagine trying to sneak the wand under a bed with all those things hanging on for dear life?

Give me back those tool caddies of the 1960's!

Hi Rob - the UK's never really had power nozzles in a big way; we don't really seem to 'do' high-end canisters in the same way the US does. Far more popular are air-driven turbos. Other than those, if you want a brush-roll for carpet, you go for an upright!

I can only think of 5 PN canisters currently onsale in the UK, now Miele have dropped their Revolution line -

- Electrolux TwinClean (although it's hardly a full-size, American-style PN!)
- Numatic Henry Hound
- Sebo Airbelt K3 Premium
- Vax Mach 3 Powerhead
- Dyson DC23 Motorhead

Thanks for getting the picture of the lights - I love details like that! I have had 2 current Electrolux models over the last couple of years; the TwinClean and the Intensity. Both had nice lights on:
