One good thing about being laid off, is that it gave me time to work on things I previously didn't have time to get done, including taking pics of vacuums that I've had for quite a while but never got around to photographing. As of now, all my machines have been photographed except for about 5 of them, so here are some of the recent pics.
For starters, we have what I call "Royal Ensemble In Red & Black," with my 153 on the left, 189 "Hybrid" on the right, and 157 hand vac in front. The reason I call the 189 a hybrid is that the motor is from a 601, but EVERYTHING else is 189. The attachment set came with the 189 and was missing the floor brush and small upholstery tool when I got it, and I added them later. All 3 machines run great, but the 189 sounds more like a Kirby than a Royal.

Kenmore Model 116.730

hygiene903's profile picture
The Torpedo Tank! Former member Mark Goodall helped me out with this one. It had one broken wheel and one missing and a missing switch cover. When I asked Mark if he had parts, he sent a whole machine so I could build the best machine possible from the two and send him back an empty shell.
Also, the only attachments that came with it beside the hose and wands were a ratty dust brush, beat up upholstery nozzle, and a rug nozzle missing the bumper, but I bought a complete set with a Kenkart caddy on ebay, and later, a sprayer.

Classic III, Complete!

hygiene903's profile picture
When my cousin gave me the Classic III, there were no attachments with it, but I soon found a set on ebay with everything here except the Miracle Head, aka Power Polisher. Later, Jim Banrhart gave me the instruction book for it. This is my most complete Kirby.

ahh the Kenmore Torpedo tank

Just like the one in the episode of the Munsters when Grandpa leaves home.

Kirby 517

Although it needs a little work and is missing a few attachments, I am only the second owner of this machine. If anyone has an extra massage cup, blower coupler, or short handle, please let me know.

Yep, That's The One, Brad!

But I think the one on the Munsters ran backwards!

Lewyt Model 40

The first Lewyt, and because it used filter cones like the Filter Queen, Health-Mor sued Alex Lewyt over this one.

Regina Model 39

This one runs great and has an almost complete set of attachments that even includes the floor polisher and the "Reginarator" demother. The only thing missing is the sprayer.

And Last But Not Least, The Westinghouse SC-1 Cannister

hygiene903's profile picture
This is the one many of you have heard about before. It belonged to an Aunt whose husband worked at the Mansfield Westinghouse plant most of his life. I got it when they moved into assisted living. Although it has 50 years of use on it, it is still quite a powerful machine, and literally had a lifetime supply of bags with it when I got it! And of course, being a family machine makes it a special part of my collection.
I do have more pics, but this is all for now. Enjoy,
Jeff

I am glad that you are enjoying having some time to do these things. Though unemployment presents certain stresses, it also provides an opportunity to take a deep breath and ENJOY yourself!! Here's to more relaxation and enjoyment. Loved the pictures. John L.

Thank You For The Compliments!

hygiene903's profile picture
Glad you enjoyed them! I was kind of surprised the way they turned out--made some of them look better than they actually do. For example, neither the Kenmore nor the Westinghouse look as nice as they do in the pics.
I do have more pics to post, and will probably start another thread for them, so stay tuned for further developments!
Jeff
