Well, the thread I posted a while back, about my mom's old Eureka, was not the Eureka I had. After careful examinations I realized the one I bought, which still hasn't arrived yet, has a metal base, metal handle, and does not say "ESP" on the bag. So when we were at the Henry Co. We were just about to leave. I faintly saw a white bag on a very top shelf that was white, and Said "Eureka ESP" on the bag. I grabbed a ladder and climbed up. I could not believe my eyes! IT was the one, and this time I know it is. It is plastic, says ESP and Eureka on the bag in the black letters, and it pink and white. It was rather dirty, and missing the back wheels, but I stole lots of parts off of my junk Eureka Imperial, and made this one look real pretty. It is one of my daily drivers. But the hood doesn't want to come off for some reason, and I do not know why. The Dial A Nap is in the way, but there is no screw to take it off, so I haven't the slightest clue! If you know please help lol. And the switch is bad, it is stuck on on. I would fix it, but I can't get into it because the hood will not come off, and God only knows what it looks like under there :P. Well I'll post some pics of it, after hours of work with the wonderful Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! And soaking the bag. On the contrary, the bag is actually pretty neat. It is striped diagonally, with pink and purple stripes very faintly, so its kind of cool. Here are some pics.

great

Glad you got one you've always wanted. Seems like my blue/green model except the color and brushroll. I hope you have fun with it!

I'm jealous that you found that. That was one of the vacs my mother had when I was growing up and it unfortunately was junked many years ago. I've been trying to find one but 80s Eureka vacs seem to be much more difficult to find than Convertibles from the era. This has the upside down motor and not the pancake type right?

The height adjustment should just pull off but if it's really stuck on there you'll have to get a flathead screwdriver, slide it under the knob from the front and gently pry it off.

To Vacman

Hi, Chase--I think I can help. The Dial A Nap has a torx screw that holds it onto the hood. You will have to pry the top cap off with a flathead screwdriver. To Remove the hood, turn the machine over, and there should be 2 phillips screws, one on each side of the machine. Remove these screws, remove the torx screw that is underneath the top cap, then you should be able to remove the top hood, and have access to your motor unit and switch. These are usually pretty easy machines to work on. The older Eurekas' hoods were usually held on by 2 springs, we have a newer style Sanitaire at work that has a plastic hood on it rather than a metal hood, and its plastic hood is held on by 2 phillips screws. Anyway--Hope this helps.
