Not sure, but I think these were made after 1980. They are my Eureka 1470B and 1489A. I found them NIB not so long ago. They are great vacuums, light and powerful.

The blue one looks like my moms old one. Except hers said "ESP" on the bag, had a white bag, and a pink hood.

Scott

I bought that blue model 1489A new in the 80's, I want to say 85 or 86. I bought it new at McMahan's furniture store while on my lunch hour when I worked for the Riverside county health system. I was so excited! I brought it back to the clinic, put it together and vacuumed the lobby/waiting room! LOL!

I later bought attachments for it. I gave it to a friend of mine when he moved into a new apartment and never saw it again :(

You Don't See Many NIB '80s Vacuums These Days

You don't see many NIB '80s vacuum cleaners these days. Something tells me these two are fine performers even now.

I'm so jealous of you! I LOVE THAT BLUE EUREKA! Here's what I do when I get a new Eureka, take your best vacuum cleaner sold at Target and then run the Eureka back over your carpet and feel how much dirt is in the F&G bag. You'll be amazed!

Great Machines !

Was wondering what the model numbers are. Just wondered if
they were three digit number plus a letter ? Which would
make them a catalog store model or a K mart model?

WOW! Those are some very nice Eureka's Scott. I have the same red model 1470B in my collection too. I love all the 1400 series Eureka's and for as much as I love Eureka's, I have never seen the blue 1489A before. I want to say that the blue 1489A is from around 1987/88 because of the Eureka font on the outer bag. The red 1470 looks to be from around 1984-86ish, I think. Anyway, congrats on some great new machines!

Those are some nice vacs, My fav color is blue but I like the red one the best out of the two. I dont know why but something about the 1400 series with the round hood i like better.
My baby sitter went from a nice hoover 1070 ish Convertible to a 1400 series round hood in a crisp white with blue base and blue trim around the headlight and blue squar pinstripes on the bag bought in 1984. I couldn't decide witch one I liked better lol,the Hoover cause I like the convertible or the Eureka because of the blue lol.
Hey I was 3.

Teriffic machines.

I'm looking for one with a 2 speed, myself. As it turns out, I've got a new appreciation for "the classics" and some of my newer machines are not kind to my older rugs.

We have twins

I bought about 6 months ago on Ebay an identical red one that had never been used. Is that were yours came from?

Yes - twins separated at birth!

I bought mine off of e-bay, too....from someone who was selling the contents of an old hardware store, I think...

Trenton?

Now that's a blast from the past! We used to drive through Elizabeth park on Friday nights in High school all summer long.
