Outer fully inflated

There is a noticeable improvement in airflow- makes the outer bag look better, better filtration and greater capacity. Im impressed! :)

Seamus...this looks like it will work well. I like how the bag is inflated when the machine is on. You have a beautiful Senior there. What is the model number and vintage? I may have to give your idea a try. Thanks for the pics...

60s Seniors.....

Hey Tom

Its the 2nd version of the 652A from approx 1964-5. There are actually 4, the one im missing is the 3rd and probably rarest version(same colour as the late Swedish Green/smoke Pine version on the right but still with the under chassis switch and bag design of the previous Hop Green/Jonquil version).

I believe the version in question was also the 1st to be known "officially" as a Senior. The preceding Grey version and the original Pink 652 were known as the Hoover Deluxe Cleaner.

Approx dates are...

652(pink) 59-61
652A (grey) 62-64
652A (Hop green) 64?-65?
652A (swedish green early) 66?-67?
652A )swedish green late)67-69-Newer Hoover script on the bag which also lost the metal plate on the top. Also has the switch moved to beside the hood.

Hope this is helpful :)

Seamus

Seamus...thanks for the pic and the information...I always thought that the full size Hoover cleaners were referred to as the "Senior" models. Early on here, the big Hoover cleaners were considered Senior models until the "special" models took over in popularity. Do you have the original 652 in pink? I do not know if I could get used to that big switch sticking out of the side of the machine!!! I have to admit that the switch on the base is very handy. Thanks Again!

Pink......

Hey Tom

Unfortunatly im not lucky enough to have an original 652 :( . Its a pretty unusual one over here, especially with its original vinyl bag. A few collector friends of mine do have them tho, one is lucky enough to have both the original vinyl bag version and the "transition" model - this has the same type of bag as the grey 652A, but has a pink stripe down the front of the bag and I think may also have pink flecks in the material.

The major cosmetic difference between the 652 and the 65(other than the switch and cable hooks obviously!)is the handle- the 652 handle is the same white as the chassis- only the grip is pink .

Seamus

P.s sadly the 652 suffers from the same hood warping problem as the 65 as well :(.
