Use a good quality bearing,I tried a economy brand HSB Chinese bearing and it gave my silverado a loud wining noise. I replaced it with a German Favner 8mm Kirby rear bearing and my machine sounds like new again. I am working with my bearing distributor in Tucson to get these bearings for a better price than the kirby store.

I have been using SKF 608ZZ bearings in mine. When I need a 629 bearing for the older Canadian 80's series, I have been using a FAG brand. The SKF is made in Italy, the FAG in Portugal. I actually spoke with a tech rep at SKF, if memeory serves correct, he informed me that the explorer series 608zz that I was using was rated at about ABEC 3 or 5, I think it was 5. I will not use a Chinese bearing as the distributors have informed me that they are a hit and a miss. ie. this batch will be greased, the next is dry.

p.s. thanks for the info on the Favner brand, I will have to try one
