It's beginning to sound like your Golden 65 is mostly if not all in original condition. As a seasoned collector I wouldn't care to have anyone make 'improvements' to it for cosmetic's or good-will's sake, no matter how well intended. I would prefer to restore/resurrect such a rare gem myself. Once something, anything is replaced with a newer part, the intrinsic collector value is diminished, never to be recovered. Ask the potential recipient what they would prefer... Dave. |

Yes, that would be my guess too, Marty's Haley's Comet that failed to garner even one bid on Ebay, in which case...change nothing, Andrew! I would have given up my eye teeth to bid on that Comet, as mine has the opposite side's logo intact and missing on the other. It should be noted that the logo graphics are different for each side with the comet blazing forward. You can't just stick the same logo plate on each side and have authenticity. The tools & logo plate alone would have been worth it but alas, just too pricey to have shipped cross border. :-( Dave |
