Hey All,
I have was wondering what people are thinking about the Hoover Platinum Bagged Uprights performance? Are they good cleaners and do they pull the carpet nap up well? Also what is the consensus on Oreck Platinums? Just curious if they are worth the price tag?

Thanks,

Alex

Well, one thing disappointing about the Oreck Platinums is they used to come with a 21 year warranty, and 21 free tune-ups, (when they were the XL-21). Oreck as a cost-cutting touch now only gives a 10 year warranty and 10 free tune-ups. Performancewise, it is still an excellent machine, and (for now) still manufactured in the United States. I'd still put my money on the Oreck!

I have had a Hoover Platinum Bagged Lightweight Upright since February and love it! The suction power teamed with the windtunnel action in the nozzle make this an excellent cleaner. Nothing gets left behind, along with the LED light and 35 foot cord this baby is a real power house. And the price has dropped $100.00 from $399.99 to $299.99 at most retailers.

Hoover Platinum Bagged Upright

Rob,
What about the build quality of the Hoover? I don't have that Hoover but I did get the Anniversary Windtunnel,Convertible and the Anniversary Canister. The build qualit was very poor.
Do you think it will be a machine that will last at all?
I was somewhat shocked that they had alreay reduced the price of the Platinum Collection so soon.
As a collector I don't use my collection vacs that much so I am not a good one to ask about how long a vac will last.
Now you can ask me about my Kirby that I have used in my home for 20 years and I know for a fact a kirby lasts and lasts.
Did you get the hand cleaner? I was wondering about it too.
Thanks,
Rob

Hoover Bagged Platinum Upright

Rob,
While on the subject, what are your thoughts on the Hoover Anniversary Windtuunel upright? Of all the new Hoovers I thought this was my favorite and a good value for $129.95. The only thing I didn't care for was the noise level and the too stiff brush. I would not use it on my newer carpeting. I do love the blue color and strong suction.
Rob

Platinum Bagless

I have the Platinum bagless and it is surprisingly quiet. In fact, shockingly so. I thought it would be a real scream machine. Though it's made of plastic, I think its build quality is pretty decent. The dirt chamber slides in and out with no effort or forcing at all (unlike other cheap bagless models I've seen). It's a heavy thing though and cumbersome but cleans well. If you're a weakling, don't buy this vac!
