A neighbor gave me her mid to late '80's Special Edition last year. I had to replace the electric hose as the woven hose was leaking so badly. The machine worked fine for almost a year and then the power nozzle died - or so I thought. Turns out that the power nozzle works just fine but not plugged into the hose. Can you give me ideas as to what the problem could be (yes, I'm aware that the hose could be defective and need replacement just can't justify that expense again in a year's time) and what I could do to repair?

I'm feeling that the contacts between the body of the cannister and the hose no longer touch but I can't see what I could do to check that and I don't want to do more damage.

Roger
