Anyone know if EIO is a reputable company? I know Overstock.com and Allergy Buyer's Club was selling this unit a few years ago for around $699. But I've been reading that attachments, belts, and bags are now impossible to find in the United States.

I saw one today at a Thrift store and decided to pass -- before I read the bad news!

Is it still around in the UK? Apparently it's German?

Any info would be appreciated!

new around here, thought I could add some UK perspective!

I remember seeing the EIO cylinder/canisters on Allergy Buyer's Club a few years back, have to say $699 seems expensive! If I recall though they did have added features such as a power nozzle, which are rare in Europe.

As far as I know we never had EIO branded vacuums in the UK, but they are part of a large parent company which also owns AquaVac (European version of ShopVac) and Morphy Richards, which we do have over here.

I have seen EIO on my travels in Germany, they seem to be regarded as an average brand- get the job done, and have some nice features, but lacking the quality of Miele or Bosch/Siemens vacs. Link is to their German website if that helps!

Welcome to the group from another Londoner, I have not been on here that long myself.

These cleaners look very similar to the Morphy Richards cleaners we get here, and as they are part of the Glen Dimplex group perhaps they decided to market them here under an established name. I wondered why these (Morphy Richards) cleaners were marked "Made In Germany" rather than in China.

I think your summery on these cleaners pretty much hits the nail on the head, I would only add that, because of their size (they are physically smaller than a Miele for example) their bag capacity is a bit limited.

Thanks very much for the replies! I saw one at a Thrift Store for $10.00 US. It is missing the power nozzle and/or hose of any kind -- it's just the bottom of the unit.

I'd say since parts/bags/filters are nearly impossible to get now, I'll just pass on it.

I saw it was still there today -- after a week, I think everyone who has seen it also has the same idea. ;)

Al thanks for the welcome :) hoping to put up pics of my few machines when i get round to it. Agree with you on the bag capacity of these EIO/Morphy Richards cleaners- I'd rather save up a bit more and go for a Miele myself.

Bill, it's a shame bags and filters are no longer available in the US..but you're probably not missing out on much leaving it in the store!
