I received a beautiful gift from Jeff, our infamous Hoover God, for Christmas. This is the model U4063 from 1975. I have been searching for this model for many years and he was kind enough to gift it to me. So I am very proud to have it displayed in my collection.

This was the second set of "full hood" machines. They retained the rear conversion, but added a new more powerful motor. The motor hood now had a window for the carpet height selector. The vinyl jackets were all new too and larger than before. They still used the bottom fill type C bag.

Thanks again Jeff for your generousity! Again this is what this hobby is all about.

A close up...

Notice that the Hoover logo is on the opposite side versus other Convertible models. This machine is in tip top shape and runs beautifully.

How wonderful, Tom! I like how the little decal thingy in front of the light matches the bag. I was not, for a long time, that big a fan of the full hood machines, but I have garnered an appreciation for them over time and they're really fun for me to see. There were quite a variety of them!

Scott...I too was not too impressed with the full hood Hoover Convertibles. Thanks to Jeff, my eyes were opened and I find them worthy of the brand. I have the first set from 1973, then the 1975 set, then the 1977 type A square handle set, and finally the Decade 80 set from 1980. They are very 70's especially the earlier full hoods with the wild print bags. But underneath those big plastic hoods lies the great carpet cleaning ability that only Hoover can deliver...

Thanks again Jeff for this latest one!!

wow. yellow is my favorite color, and THAT is my favorite full-hood shape. i also strongly prefer the tube handles to square... and that lace pattern! that has to be one of the most attractive (to my eyes) Convertibles ever! would you say its a LITTLE less gold in person? does it have the "lighweight" chassis? Fabulous!

Congratulations Tom, It is a great machine. Ya know I have
to confess that I owned one of those machines, new back in the
day! I can't remember how that happened but I 'm sure there
is a story about how I justified it at the time. As we still had
our Kirby 1cr. Probably because Hoover did a better job of sweeping the 401 nylon green sculpture wall to wall. OH, plus the fact that it had 4 height adjustment for the red shagg in a bedroom. Kept the
Kirby with the hose on it, all the time for the better attachment suction. So the Hoover was the daily driver!

Nice Vac Tom!

I echo Scott's sentiments as I too did not appreciate the full hood machines either, until recently. I now have to get one for my collection. Hope you had a great holiday!
