So my Bissell ProHeat 2X started leaking rusty water on my near white carpet last time I tried to use it, so I just chucked it. Was just outside of the 1 year warranty, big surprise. Anyway, I decided to go with something that has a long warranty, great features, with an onboard heater. Hopefully this lasts longer than the Bissell did! |

Wow, Andrew that is quite impressive, I love how they have added even more brushes to this model. This must be unbeatable. Be sure to let us know what you think of it when you use it. |

Cleaned the living room carpet with it this morning, and was thrilled with it's performance. The suction is way better than the Bissell was, and leaves the carpet just slightly damp, not sock soaking wet like the Bissell did. The brushes are much gentler yet scrub the carpet on all sides, and I found that it did not create as many fluff balls as the Bissell. The vacuum motor is very quiet, and smooth sounding. If I had to guess, it's probably a lamb motor, even Bissell used a lamb motor. Like Jack told me, if they warrant it for 6 years, I bet it's got a better motor than one might think. I read a few reviews online where people said it's a detergent hog, but I found that untrue. I was able to clean the entire living room without a refill of the clean water tank, and it didn't use very much detergent at all. (At $20 a bottle, this is good!). Detergent does not foam up like the Bissell formula did when you shake it. Hose suction is awesome and the tools are very sturdy. When I was done with it, I go overboard with flushing the system out with clean water. I pour unused detergent back into the bottle, rinse out the detergent tank, and fill with clean warm water. Filled up the clean water tank, and I flushed out the pump (or pumps, not sure how many this thing has) from the end of the hose, and also with the WASH/AUTO RINSE motions. I do this on an old area rug, to make sure all the detergent is flushed out of the lines. I've always thought that it would be best to not leave it in there for long periods of time, might gunk up. What happened on the Bissell was the heater assembly, corroded, clogged, and the pump caused the bottom of it to break open spewing rusty water out the bottom of the cleaner. I sure hope this one lasts a long time, and at $400 + $50 in detergent and spot cleaner, you can bet that I'll send this in for service as much as needed for the 6 years it's warranted if it does fail on me. I have always wondered why these particular machines have never been called "carpet washers." At first they were called "steam cleaners", but I guess the legal departments of all the companies forced them all to give up on that name since the machines did not really clean with steam. Now I see Healthy Gain Investments, Ltd. - Division of TTI is using the innocent but obvious name "Carpet Cleaner". Isn't that what every dry vac is? To me the only difference is that these machines use water and liquid to clean carpets. So why not use the term "carpet washer"? Any thoughts or comments guys? |

Chris, I'm still surprised how the carpet feels 2 days after cleaning it. With the Bissell, and even the Kirby shampoo method, the carpet seemed to be stiff and matted by now. My carpet on the stairs looks just like it did 2 years ago when it was brand new, very soft and plush. This cleaner completely removed a few spots and the dull dirty paths in the high traffic areas. This thing blows the Bissell out of the water, and leaves the carpets just slightly damp. Mine were dry in about 2 to 2.5 hours. It is an expensive machine, but the Warranty and performance vs the other options out there justify it. I thought about a rug doctor, but I just decided that it was a bit heavy duty for my needs. I keep a pretty clean house, and I thought it was overkill. Andrew |

I wonder if the Platinum will outclean a Rug Doctor? If it does, I'll get the Platinum machines as rental units & for carpet cleaning business. |
