This is a cool hoover I picked up on my vacation. I had fun cleaning it up and its cool cause it has two settings. Normal, And low. I have been told its one of the more rare and better performing convertibles.

Matt,

What a beautiful find. I just love how simple that Convertible is in cream with the lovley dark brown hood, definetly one of the nicer plastic based models.

oddly enough

its not brown its like a brownish mauroon it came out that way in the pic. its simple and super powerful it pulls itself to the rug with such force its tough to push.

this was the last of the hoovers made before they switched to those awful bag on the front plastic things.

mine has a metal brush roll with one row of brushes and uses the bottom fill bags. it cleans very well. good, sturdy, basic vac.

"this was the last of the hoovers made before they switched to those awful bag on the front plastic things...."

You mean the Elites? Yes, I was not a big fan of them when they initially came out either. To me, they were the epitome of cheapness. In the last 20 years since they first came on the market, I've developed a soft spot for the early ones. But actually, this wasn't quite the final incarnation of the Convertible. I recall the last of these machines being called the "Convertible RS" with a fabric outer bag instead of the perforated vinyl. I have the same Convertible in poppy red without the height adjustment.

and, I believe, through a VERY good source,

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
it was one of, if not THE most sold models, because of the price,etc.... sad, indde, looking at the present situation.
