G'day there.
New to this website and just wanted to say what an awesome find. I was born in the UK and my folks always had Hoover Vacuums, from Constalltion to turbopower, to turbomaster. I moved to Sydney Australia and also bought Hoover vacuums. They've seemed to have a pretty bad wrap the last few years in the UK esp over the one models they bought out a couple years back. I am currently back in the UK visiting my folks for Xmas and noticed that they had bought The ONE pet after the turbomaster gave in after 11years of heavy service. It seems Hoover have learnt from their mistakes with the 1st gen The Ones and these new models seem great. I've had a go few times and was blown away by the suction on these things. I currently have a DC07 back in Sydney and even with the filters dirty and the cup full this Hoover has more suction that my dyson! I was amazed at the length of the hose. Has to be over 7mtrs (longer than most power cords) and has a great Zoom wand to it.Overall this machine seems really easy to use, awesome suction and some great additions. I hope they continue to improve in this way. Thought I'd get some pics for you...Enjoy

The hose off it's hooks and the zoom wand activated ( the sturdy wand clips away from the machine with the press of a button adn the suction is directed there straight away.

So, how is "The One"? I have heard (this is just from the internet and not anyone I know personally) that they are riddled with problems and poorly built. It seems that you have had good luck with yours, however, and I do quite like the design. If I had 240V and could get my hands on one, I would do it in a heartbeat.

The original Hoover 'The One' (Model no. H1M - are we detecting not-so-subtle Matrix influences here?) was riddled with quality control problems, but from what I hear the newer models are much improved and not too bad (as modern cleaners go!)...maybe a little bulky and heavy...I wouldn't mind giving one a go if someone offered me a free one, but I'd still choose something German (Sebo/Miele/Bosch/Vorwerk) if I was spending my own money on a new cleaner!

Re: Hoover The One Pet:

Hi! Steve, is this specifically only a UK Vacuum Cleaner? I tried to go onto the USA Hoover Web-Site and they don't even have a window to input particular Models to bring up on the Site. It is a real good looking modern Vacuum Cleaner and I'm very impressed with the length of the Hose.

Steve.....

The One is indeed a UK/Europe only model. Hoover US and Hoover Europe are two completly different companies. The only "Cross over" models im aware of are the Telios(an old Hoover Europe model) and we had an early model Steamvac(called a Brush and wash over here).

Hey, as far as I'm aware it is uk model only. There are four varying types on the UK market at the moment (www.hoover.co.uk...) The original The One (red and white) was ripped to pieces by reviewers and it seemed that anyone who bought this model promptly returned it. But it seems that they really did listen to the criticism and have come up with a first class machine. My folks have had this about 5 months and haven't had a problem with it and after raving about it my sister and my auntie have now replaced there Dysons (DC14 and a DC03) with The ones and are stoked with them. It is a heavy machine but feels a lot more sturdy than previous models - which I think is why my folks like it so much after having the very robust turbomaster. The cleaning power is something else, grooming carpets perfectly. Also great on hard floors - My dyson back home ( was gifted to me - not a fan of it tho) seems to just scatter the dust over the floor, whereas The one ( it has a foot pedal to turn the brushroll off and two led lights to show whether it is running or not) picks up all the dust from hard floors. If you can get hold of these machines you won't be disapointed.

Infinity been scrapped?

Hey Seamus

Just checked out the hoover Uk website and the One Infinity ( think it was green in colour) has been removed. Any ideas why? Maybe just not enough major difference the the four models??

Maybe its just been renamed? or maybe hoover decided that theres enough "one" variations.

I have always been absolutlely fascinated by these machines. Maybe it's because we don't have them in America, or that hypnotic TV commercial they aired for them...

Although I seriously question the quality of the machines (but I am very glad to hear that the newer models are improved), I must admit that I think they look completely badass. Especially the red and white original one. What a beautiful lemon... I really would like to try one :(

I love reading the online customer reviews of these machines. The problems they had were amazing! I'd expect that from a Bissell (yuck), but certainly not something that expensive...

That is one looooong hose. How nice!

Here's The One Infinity, it's really the same machine as the Pet model just without the Turbo tool and carbon filter.

But I love the colour of this one !!!!! And they do have great suction if you can get it to stay together until your finshed hoovering !!!!!

Hey Mark (Ozhoover)
I didn't realise that the newer 'One' models had problems staying together?.. THe people that own them that I've spoken to have all raved about them (apart from the owners of the org The one). Also are these now selling in Aus? Have been in the Uk the last few weeks visiting family and am about to head back home to Sydney. Was tempted to purchase one of these in the UK and bring it back home with me to replace the DC07 I have.

Hey Steve,

Your right this model of The One is much better the only problem I have is that the filter pops out if you knock it cleaner while hoovering.

I have the org one also and it's crap the handle keeps coming out while cleaning. I got mine from the UK while over thier for work.

So if I was you and you like them get one !!!

Mark

THanks Mark - I'll grab one while over here then. Would love to get a turbopower or turbomaster when I get back to Sydney - is there anywhere else that sells recon machines other than Godfrey's that you know of?? I'm in the Eastern Subs ( Bronte).
Looking forward to heading back for some sun!
Cheers
