Hello all guys, sorry for having been away for quite a time for what concerns posts but believe me, I always read all of the posts of yours! Here I am to share with you a few pictures of a vacuum cleaner that a friend of mine gifted me two days ago coming for a dinner at mine here in Milano. It's an Electrolux-Volta Model Z 59, dating-I suppose- the late fifties! It looked great though it need a little elbow grease to make it look as it does now. However I hope you like it, enjoy the pictures! tommy CLICK HERE TO GO TO tommymilan's LINK |

Beautiful! And the Lux is nice too. What is up with that chrome thingy across the front cover? Any way of posting a picture of that in use? Rick |

well, thank you for the compliments!should I post some pictures of me in the off-topic forum???ahahh well for what concerns the baby I haven't plugged in and turned on yet... I must confess I'm quite afraid of old electric appliances. I usually ask my boyf to turn them on for me!!! poor him but he's brave...I'll let you know if it works! tommy |

me too, when he says "let's turn it on!" I gump to the opposite side of the house, covering my ears...I'm really afraid of electric shocks and I would never like to see a baby of mine burning up...though I asked my electrician to put safety switches and fuses... I don't know why I'm so scared... the only times I didi it ( with success and without troubles I had drung a bottle of champagne right before! tommy |

Tommy, The front of the machine. Is that the latch for the front cover? I have never seen that machine. It is really great looking. It doesn't have to be plugged in to see how that works. HaHa!!!! |

Hi Tommy Beautiful Machine. The parts are the same as what the model 30 (1939-1948)used but the rest of the machine is very similar to the models 48 (1951-1956)and 60 (1957-1960) including the handle and switch assembly and the use of the spring metal band to hold the front end on instead of clamps so I would suspect it would probably be from around the mid 1950's. Definately a very unusual find as I've never even seen a reference to a model 59 before. Doug |

Aspects of the machine are very reminiscent of the XI (1927-29) and XII (1930-36) especially the 'rear end'. (Nice rear end!) It is really beautiful and in really wonderful condition. Enjoy! I am jealous!!! Rick |

It's remarkable to me how contemporary some of these vintage cylinders look today in their fresh colours. Why, if you fitted them with hepa bag liners - such as Air-way or Royal - and an after motor filter nano-pore medium who'd 'need' anything else? Dave, having reversibly retro-fitted such things to cloth dustbag cylinders and Electrolux cylinders with the rectangular Dust Wrappers. |
