Hello,

I've been looking a very special Hoover vacuum for years after my dad put it in the garbage. I've emailed hoover and this is what they said:

"Hello, Thank you for your recent email. I am sorry but without a model number we cannot help you. The locations below may be able to; Est Distance: 14.58 miles ** ABC VACUUM CLEANER & ENT Platinum Dealer 2545 E INDIAN SCHOOL RD PHOENIX AZ 85016 US (602) 955-0890 Sincerely, Customer Service 41 1.330.499.9499 Monday - Friday 800am to 700pm EST."

They are horrible! So, after reading the forums for months now, I have made an account. So can you guys help me?

This is what I remember about the vacuum.

It was a blue plastic vacuum with a soft-cover bag that said "Hoover DECADE Soft and Light". Under that there was a triangle like thing logo that said something about filtration. It took type A bags and you installed and removed the bags by a zipper. I remember it having a brown hose, which to use it you had to open a cover that said "Cleaning Tools" and push the hose in. You also turned it on by a red switch on the side.

I really hope you can help me! Thanks!

Hoover Elite

This was a Hoover Elite with a different name plastered on the bag. The Triangle on the bag spoke of the "Micro Filtration System"

I've not seen too many of these around....

I was never a fan of the Elites. Get a Hoover with a bagintheback :)

Do you happen to know what the model number had looked like. Like, don't all the Windtunnls have a certain number in the model number? I'd really like to get this vacuum! Was the DECADE different then the Elite? I've also seen vacuums called the Hoover Runabout that look that it.

The Original Decade was much different then the Elite, and IMHO a far better machine. Still, the Elite had a long production run, and over time less expensive versions were given other names such as "Encore" and "Runabout" so they could be marketed through different big-box retailers. Towards the end of their run, they got too powerful. A couple of months ago, I picked up a Soft & Light (Elite) in the garbage from 2003 with a 12-amp motor! I'm sorry, but that's waaaaay too much current for an Elite to draw. Hoover had a tendency of recycling names, just as last year for the Centennial in addition to going out of business, created a Saavy with the "Convertible" name on it. They really should have dressed up one of their commercial machines, then it could have been more like the original.
