If I'm not losing my mind, I seem to remember sometime in about the mid 80's, almost buying a Whirlpool Upright Vacuum. I went to a warehouse sale at JL Hudsons in Detroit and they had a ton of them. I ended up getting a Eureka Ultra, which was a very nice vac for a long time. Does anyone have one of these Whirlpools and perhaps a picture of it?

Find a Sears catalogue from the mid-1980's and....

you'll see all the Whirlpool canisters and uprights. In fact, Whirlpool made Kenmore vacs for Sears until the plant in Kentucky was bought by Japan's Matshushita company (National / Panasonic).

In 2001 I needed a replacement part for my new Kenmore Progressive ("Elegance" in Canada) canister, and the packaging for the part (the red dust bag holder) said "Whirlpool"!

By the way, you made a wise choice.....

The Eureka Ultra was a great vac and was top rated by Consumer Reports at the time it was on the market. Such a typically classic Eureka design - cool and sleek and simple....with a gigantic top fill dust bag to boot!

I have

a Eureka Ultra, and I love it to death, really good suction, especially with the Vibra Groomer. Did you get the white and blue one or the black one?

I had the blue one. I was impressed by the cool modern look to it. Most anyone that saw it commented on how smart it was to put the bag in front, which I think they had just started to do at the time. I think the handle broke off at some point and it went in the trash... if I only knew then, what I know now!! :) I replaced it with a Kenmore Whispertone upright in about 1996.
