I did a little test just for fun. I used my new Oreck Platinum for one month. I only used the Oreck and Oreck portable. Then I put a new bag in my Kirby Legend. Check the results out. I think the Oreck gave a pretty good performance. The Kirby did get more dirt and it was very fine dirt. I don't think I will make fun of the little Oreck anymore.

Where do you get such huge quantities of dirt and lint in your house? If I'm vacuuming normally, I can't even fill a Kirby bag in a year! Much less a month!

It takes me 3-4 months to fill a TriStar bag to the point of throwing away...and that's with me, 2 ferrets, and a long-haired dog living in the house!

WOW...

I don't even get 1/4 of the dirt you did with the Oreck here with 5 people and a cat in a month!!!
WOW!!!

Oreck Test

Hey guys that is about the same amount I would get from my Kirby used on main floor and the Electrolux upstairs) This is for an entire month for about 3000 square feet and I have 2 cocker spaniels running around.
I KNOW my yellow Oreck XL would not get this much dirt.
The Patinum seems to have a lot more air-flow on the carpet.
Maybe it looks like a lot because I had to pull it out of the Oreck's bag.
I did notice that what the Kirby got was very very fine dirt. I think for fun I will reverse the trail and use only my Kirby for a month and then see what the Oreck gets up.

Twice a Month

Around our house, we usually use a Sanitaire daily and a Tristar CXL once a week. With two dogs and kids in and out, that will fill up the bags in both vacuums in a month easily. That didn't seem unusual to me at all.

do you have newer carpet, it sheds for a while. our neighbours got new and thought their vac (dirt devil) was ripping out the carpet fibers. the bin was always full of rug fuzz.
