Saving the best for last and definitely Vintage, this is the find of the week! Pete found this and knowing my love of cylinders he said he had a surprise for me. Wow, an EATONIA made for the T Eaton Company Department Stores. It's hard to believe the condition this is in. Runs great at 41". a spec of rust here and there that steel wooled right off and the hose is still good except under that tape. Just look at that mottled brown paintjob... |

Its rare that a North American vacuum company makes a vacuum so simple in design look so beautiful in appearance. In Europe is seems far more common, like the vintage Mieles for instance. |

...going by Doug's picture I went looking through the collection for J wands and sure enough, the wand and (obviously) tool set from an Electro-Hygiene or Royal tub canister are a perfect fit and orientation, so the EATONIA can now be used fully. I'll be on the look-out for a set with light or dark gray or black rubber collars. Dave |

The Eaton 1960 Mail Order catalog Vacuum Page. Interesting, I thought, for array available. I have the earlier Canadian Constellation 841E complete in the box with an Eatons Winnipeg address on it but mine has the original cast aluminum floor nozzle. Interesting that Hoover, through Eatons, was still offering the swiveltop Connie in 1960 when it was discontinued in the USA in 1958 with the hose fixed down the side on the model 86. And the EATONIA cylinder gives me a date clue for the turquoise green Canadian Tire MASTER cylinder and the turquoise blue Viking 107. |
