I had a red one

I had a dark red/ maroon one many years ago. I loved that vacuum but at that time, did have no interest in vacuums so I thought bagless was better... :(

ahttp://www... poor vacuum got thrown away. :S

i sure miss it. but cant afford another.

If I do get it you can be sure there will be a video! Thanks for your complements and I swear my voice is NOT really that nasally. In those videos I sound like a male Fran Drescher!

OH MY GOD!!!!!

That is the exact same Kenmore upright we had at our vacation house when I was little! When we sold the house it got pitched. You are very lucky to have one as I am told they are getting hard to come by. Take good care of it.
Matt

They are

kenmore81's profile picture
getting harder to come by Matt,BTW I didn't think you sounded like Fran. Anyway I picked this up at the flea market for 10 bucks a few years ago. It runs pretty well but I let it sit for quite a while and forgot to pitch the bag, These bags ar a bear to get off and on so on a nice sunny day Im going to take it outside and turn it upside down and wash and rine well with the hose. My aunt had the white version of this vacuum with the tools and one of the times she moved she pitched the vac and the hose, so now Im on the hunt for the hose.

I might be able to track down a hose for you if you want. Also if you want to talk email me and I'll give you my cell #.

I have the maroon soft & light from 98
I like the A bags as they hold alot & keep it as a spare workhorse when I got to clean an apt.
Truth is I hardly use it as I like to test out all the others I have but its a good vac.

Mine is really light just the vac no tools or brackets

I've never been into the Elites, but maybe I should get one to suck up carpet fresh... I tried that with my beloved dd broom vac and the poor thing was coated with powder all over! What I didn't like about Elites was how loud they were and the placement of the power switch. Did they make a model with a different motor that was a little bit quieter? My aunt had a teal soft bagged Runabout with a slide off bag top... I'd get one of those if I came across it at a good price.

Hoover Elite

why did Hoover discontinue the Elites or do they still make them?

Hoover still makes a commercial version of the Elite.
