I always pass by bagless vacs, but because I have not heard or seen one of these I bought it for $5.00. Anybody know when it was made (about) or have any info on it?

Thanks!

Guy

Actually, to the best of my knowledge, the ClearTrak is still being made. It is made by Bissell and privately labeled for Amway. It was the first bagless cleaner available in the United States circa 1987. It's identical to its predecessor, the CMS 1000 (I have one with a burned-out motor) except it has a height adjustor. You got a good deal on it, when they appear on eBay, they never sell for less than $100.00. I actually like it better than the Dyson. Definitely more heavy-duty....

when it was sold in the 80's it was $600.00 and now you can get a new one for $400.00. Nothing has changed since the early 90's and I think that James Dyson designed it and they took it from him. If you Google it you will find that story. (very interesting)

Yeah pretty much...

He designed the technology... Tried to sell it to Amway... Amway said "Not interested" and made it anyway....

A few lawsuits later...

And IMHO, Amway produced a better, more heavy-duty upright. It's definitely a better machine in the fact that the back of the cleaner is made of lucite, so clogs are clearly visible. Also, the filters are more easily accessible. Then came the Fantom Thunder....

There was one here listed on CL a couple hours north of me for 10 bucks.... I strongly considered it! Hope you enjoy it... how does it pick up?

I have to say...

that it is built like a tank, and the pick-up is powerfull. I have 5 cats, and one pass picks up everything. Grooms the carpet real well, and it's not too noisy!
