Isnt it funny how the exhaust from the same type of vacuum is the same? I receiently got a nice brown ELux Model G from a forum member that the exhaust smells exactly the same as a model G from my youth that was owned by a neighbor,,,infact every Model G ive ever used has that exact same smell from the exhaust,,even after all these years. HA, some things never change! I imagine if someone has sucked up something really nasty, wet and stinky, and/or ruined the motor of a vac by doing so, that could change the smell of the exhaust! A friend that owns a Vac Shop said that awhile back someone brought in a brand new Kirby Sentria that they had sucked up cat vomit and cat feces,,and nearly filled the whole bag with it,,,infact they hadnt even used a paper filter bag, just let it all accumulate inside the outer bag. The inside of the rug nozzle, and the brush roll were so caked and coated, that it was practically unrecognizable. Who knows how long they had been using it that way. They brought the machine in saying they had NO idea what was wrong with it. My friend said the entire insides, fan casing and all of the machine were completly caked and coated,,and the bag was totally ruined,,,how would you go about trying to clean it up? GROSS! And these people were vacuuming their house with this thing! AARRGGGHHH! |

I just love the distinct scent of the exhaust from a nice clean well cared for Hoover, Grandma's 1020 is 40 yrs old and still has that Hoover smell to it |
