...'You should try one! You'll love it! It'll beat almost anything else on the market! It's light, it's powerful...what's not to like?!'

But I resisted. 'I don't need ANOTHER vac right now,' I said. 'I've just bought this lovely DC14 Origin! It's light...it's powerful...'

But they persisted, 'Jack, you HAVE to try one! You won't regret it!'

So I gave in, and found one at a good price. It arrived this morning, brand new and sealed in its box:

Oh that's so wrong seeing Electrolux's name on that! You're going to LOVE that machine though! It'll be a nice complement to the vast collection of old Hoovers! A modern machine that carries on their legacy.... :-)

No the same brand of course, but certainly a derived design.

I think you're gonna love it too. They're great vacuums like the convertible, simple, straightforward and they work. Get that video going so we can hear if it sounds much different on 220v.

Hoovers, Dysons, and Sanitaires! Oh my!

Wow, lots of people lately look like they have been infected with a very contagious virus: the Sanitaire craving addiction virus! Inducing myself! ARGH! I must get one! I wanna join the Sanitaire owners' club! And I might soon! I'm gonna try to trade in my beautiful Hoover bagless in pristine condition with untouched owners manual at a used vac shop where it is much more desirable to the owner to sell than an old Sanitaire which I want to trade for!

Please

make a video of it! That green bag on it though just looks, well not bad but much more different than I'm used to!

I find it interesting...

That the Sanitaires you're able to purchase on your side of the pond are made in the USA... and those that we can buy over here in the USA (from what I remember) are now made in China or Mexico.

Go figure.

Pretty machine! I've always liked those Sanitaires...

Thanks for posting!

Fred you read my mind. Made in USA??

And 700w? 600w? That less than our 840 watts. Less is better, IMO.

I look forward to your review, Jack. IMO this is one of the best deep-cleaning uprights ever made.

Nice Sanitaire, Jack.
I really like that machine, great carpet groomer, powerful and easy to maneuver.
If you're interested in "jacking up the performance", consider a 4 brush brush roll.
Not sure about the availability on your side of the pond but I found them at a local vac repair shop in Milwaukee for about $25.
I made that upgrade on a Eureka 7.5 amp heavy duty, commercial model and now the agitation is amazing.
BTW, this model is made in Mexico.
IMHO, the beater bar doesn't do much, the extra brush strips seem to help.
Just a thought ....
Enjoy!!
Pat

Perfect video. Are you gonna try a cloth bag or different agitator, for variety?

Speaking as a Hoover fan, I'm sorry Hoover gave up on this traditional design. This style Eureka... uh Electrolux... continues to be popular with contract cleaners and carpet installers. Working at a hotel I saw various contractors use these Sanitaires. One particular job was a post construction cleanup. Chunks of gypsum, carpet scraps... I kept expecting the machines to fail. The proper(hotel owned) Sebos couldnt touch this kind of duty.

I have the Eureka-branded mid 1980s version with cloth bag. Amazing power.

Cloth Bags...

Hey David

I managed to aquire a shake out bag for mine for £4.99 inc post but it looks like it needs a different screw on adaptor to attach to the chassis?- are such things availiable over there?

There is such a thing as a bag adapter for the Paper-Bag machines. It allows you to screw it onto the base and use the clamp-style shake-out bags with the paper-bag machines. See the link below.
