Printed out the Thorndale Streetmap so as not to miss any sidestreets. Yeah, like that could happen even if ya blinked on purpose. :-) That's the CN Rail line to the left. There's a factory back there where they make that imitation marble for shower enclosures, countertops and stuff. Shipped all over the continent via that rail spur. I had them custom pour my bathroom's wall slabs a few years back. |

Over here, a Eureka upright with the detachable portable canister in excellent shape. These always reminded me of a dog sledge with a papoose strapped to the back. Actually quite versatile as together it is a fine wide brushroll upright with that swirly static cling dusting wand, snap out the papoose & hose and sling it over your shoulder for portable cleaning. Also a cute little Whirlpool dehumidifyer that will see service down the basement this summer. |

Over on the other side, more carpet rolls, the Whirlpool and wonder of wonders, a RIVAL Crock Pot just like the one I blew up last week! Heating up as we speak... Laying over the top obscurring all rearward vision are two 9x12 woven area covers in great shape, if the pattern colours are less than stylish. About to roll them out and see what's they really look like. |

Geez, we just had a power outage and a massive Hailstorm with 1" hail. As soon as the light's flickered I rushed outside to put the car in the garage - I had a warning twingle. Good thing, too as I can see the cars on the street have roof & hood dents. Now it's raining kittens & puppies. :-) First thing this morning I went to the lumber yard to get 3 sheets of plywood sliced in to 2x8 sections. The only way I can get them up the narrow stairwell. Because Friday Night 5 of us from work moved that plastic wrapped virtually new Queensize Serta Pillowtop out of the attic, out on the balcony, over the railing to waiting hands on the garage roof and thence plopped on to the Roof of Teddi's SUV, the reverse of how it had to be delivered 4 years ago... |

Over a few blocks to Lorna's second floor up a capacious stairwell to replace her sagging 18 year old marriage mattress to surprise husband Vance when he got home at midnight from Toronto - we've been planning this for a few weeks. Her husband, who is an Opera Singer/Actor, doesn't know one end of a screwdriver from a hammer, btw. When he put the bedframe together he used only one bolt in each corner. The bed has been swaying & squawking alarmingly for 5 years now. So, I ran home, got some bolts and tightened that f*ck*r right up. Then Lorna brought out her 'vacuum' to clean up...and I burst out laughing sadly. It's one of those small orange Hoover Podvacs. Her husband didn't bother to get the correct RS30 baglets and jammed an S bag inside, folding it over in such a way as to block the inlet, not that the cardboard square even comes close to fitting the bracket. So, Lorna has been vacuuming in vain. The hose was stuffed and the vac's interior was thickly insulated with dustbuny felt. Arrrrrgh. Back home one more time for the correct bags & new filter pads and then she was ruefully amazed to find out how not half bad the vacuum is now. It actually picks up debris!!! LOL I will be choosing a larger canister vacuum with a PN from the collection for Lorna's needs wall to wall upstairs and wood floors down. The Hoover Powermax Supreme 850 or the Kenmore Whispertone - both have on board tools and a parking PN slot. Lorna's the tall gorgeous one grinning in pink. Next is Gerry, colleague whom I run the Department with, and the round woman is Teddi Peddle. Teddi's husband's name is Terry and yes, they do have matching name embroidered bowling jackets. :-) That is correct - Terry and Teddi Peddle. Mattress installed, Lorna, Angela and Gerry give it the bounce & recoil test. Lorna will report her findings on Monday (wink) Al in all, a fine productive day. Still raining. I have a show to work tonight and then rainy Sunday off to install more floorboards where the matress used to cover and arrange carpet parts around the perimeter of the 1930's center panel. Dave |

Well, Brian, I don't really have back yard to display it in, it sure as hell ain't going in the front yard and I've already selected furniture for the vacuum Lounge Opening Ceremonies. Yup, I made up that new word 'foretolden'. It sounded so olde timey and just right. LOL Oops, almost forgt being how it so forgettable - a Dirt Devil swivel caster upright was rescued as well. Dave |

Took some over to a contractor and was assured it was cotton wool, like matress stuffing. NOT ASBESTOS! Nonetheless, I wore a mask with filters, a hat pulled over my ears and long sleeves to be safe. Insidious stuff. It compacts nicely but as soon as disturbed it grows and swells to 2X its volume. A righteous pain getting it over to the bag without spilling. When I bought the house the entire unfinished attic front and rear had this stuff 3 feet deep from end to end, with a single plank sidewalk to both windows. The only way to vacuum it up would require a vacuum truck outside. I'm using a shovel, with a large garbage can with sides extended up 2 more feet to hold the whole bag. First leaf bags I was using were split-prone. Yuck. Paid the extra for the industrial waste bags. All this from the eaves of the last corner of the Attic, where the mattress was shoved. |

I forgot what a fast & furious 'floor' I put down decades ago. LOL I'd hoped to have the new one laid today but...before picture of compacted insulation fluff. Just this filled 15 bags!!! Tonight I'll puzzle over eliminating the 1.25" thick bead board doors and arranging the 3/4" subfloor pieces for a flat surface. Powertools will be involved. Rude words will be flung... The bead board was fashioned into doors separating the basement rooms early in the house's history. I took all those walls out. I'll be able to use the bead board to replace what's missing in the kitchen behind the modern sink unit. cupboards. |

My parents have that nasty stuff in their attic. Just hate it. I can't imagine what a backbreaking job that must have been getting it all in those bags. |

Potentially back breaking but I was careful to lift with the knees. . Getting them all downstairs to the car was a chore. Only 8 at a time fit the car. Anyway, there's no room in the garage to store them for proper disposal (and I assure you I normally use the Dump Facilities). But, with time constraints crowding me I irresponsibly took them to the loading dock area out behind the DURA Automotive steering, window and seat factory employing 450 that supplied Chrysler and GM, that closed with a month's notice - no severance - just before Christmas this year. The factory is being mothballed, all the machinery has been moved to Mexico and there are 6 huge dumpsters out back filling with remaining factory debris. Didn't bother my conscience one whit. The dumpsters and the parkinglot are filled with old couches, fridges, stoves, boxes of clothes and garbage, you name it that folks losing their rentals and homes have been dumping on the receivers for months now. Unemployment disgruntlement? You bet! We've also lost the first of two Standard Products factories (250)that sew up car seats and panels and Crane Plumbing (200) that makes porcelain fixtures will close in a month or so. :-( Nasty business in small town Ontario. Began to rain again. Got the plywood in from the garage, threw carpet rolls back in the car and brought one green roll in to see if it's in as nice shape as I hoped. It Is! My first carpet that shows footprints...I mean, groom tracks. :-) Pieced together the 4 green rolls will run from the Attic door for about 20 feet and wrap around the corner bathroom to the left 15 feet all the way under the skylights to the eaves. One large plush demo area settled. Golleee Gomer, this is fun. Two more sheets of plywood tomorrow and I'll have a level floor. What a day. Time for some ice cream and off to bed. |

To do what? Blow it out of the eaves and turn the attic into a wood framed Snowglobe? :-) You really don't want to have this fluff floating around in the free air, never mind getting all over the vacuums & cleaned out crannies, down my shirts and in my ears... Seriously, even the 65 gallon Shop Vac I borrowed for a while fills up so fast and then ya have to carefully dump - pour actually - the expanding stuff into bags...and that's only enough to fill half of one bag. It's less work to shovel it. I'm sure there are commercial vacuums on trucks that do this sort of evacuation but they don't do it for free. My method may be slow and back bending but it works without spreading the stuff any further. I will use the 2.25" shop vac to do the final cleanup sucking, since the roof meets the floors at head bonking & squashing angles. Got 3 more sheets of plywood tonight and a 60 foot roll of heat activated carpet seaming tape from the carpet store - this stuff fuses the pieces tight together for a seamless fit. Once the east half of the flooring is done and carpet set down I move all the vacuums against the west eave over to get at the fluff wedged into those eaves. At the time I was content to just stuff it into the eaves and lean boards against it like a levy dam. Now I know the method that works I'll be able to replace the barnboard forming the back wall's uneven lumpy 'floor'. |

you know how leaf blowers have a mulching function with a bag on it. Suck it up with that and when the bag is full put it in the trash. very simple... |

I have that same Ryobi in its electric version. I'm sure the gas is waaaay more powerful. With a plastic mulching blade I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it gives up the ghost.... |
