It's a 1955/6 ish Kenmore Satellite. The one I grew up with, mom kept in the basement these last 40 odd years and she tossed out just before I moved back here :(

Now that's pretty cool. It looks sort of like a suitcase, but it looks SO 50s! How strong is it's suction? Comparable to other machines of the time?

The Saturn. From the same period. These machines had celestial themes ala Sputnik. This one won a VCCC award for most historical significance given that it was one of the first power nozzle models.

Suction

Suction is amazing! Are Bags still available? No attachments--got just the vac and the hose. It does look to have a PN outlet.

SR Logo

I always LOVED that atomic-age Sears & Roebuck logo. I've got a Sears Silvertone "Solid State" receiver that has that logo on it. Always reminded me of a butterfly!

oooo Eric I have to see a pic of that. I am an audiophile and love the way vintage audio products looked and sounded. it is too bad that stuff is not made like that anymore

Great find! I've never ran across any Kenmore canisters of this style/age. They seem pretty rare.

They use those U shaped bags sort of like the Hoover type H, which who knows, could fit? The Kenmore bag was fatter though

the triangular power head was the standard model - there was also a delux L shaped powerhead according to the manual

Mike...

I'll get a picture of the old Silvertone this weekend. I've got several old receivers: 2 Sansuis, a Kenwood (currently on loan), a GE integrated unit, and of course the Sears.

The Sears is actually old enough to use Germanium transistors in it and surprisingly has not even one IC chip in it. Even FM tuning is 100% analog in it. For being rated at only 35 watts, it will SLAM. I've read on some forums that it is capable of putting out well over 100 watts per channel with 60-70 RMS being pretty typical into an 8Ω speaker coil. Talk about under-rated!

The Satellite never had a power nozzle available did it? Ours didn't have one nor was their an outlet on the machine. Just the Saturn like Fred shows?

The Satellite had a powernozzle outlet on the lower left part of the bumper.

"Vintage Kenmore"

Great find!
These were manufactured around 1958. If you need bags, I do have replacement bags which will work well! The bags are very scarce now. I find them at thrift stores and grab em fast!
I did have this same one years back and sold it to a friend!

Our next door neighbor had one just like it back in the day. Same color, too. Looks like you got one in good condition. Here's hoping a set of attachments will turn up for you soon!
