I'd want to say older except for the script looks too modern. Doesn't have the electrifying big E |

I would say early to mid 1970's, when Eureka's Sweet Sixteen (1600 series) canisters were being sold. The gold colour was never used in the 1960's - turquoise and avocado were dominant with Eureka then. In the beginning of the 1970's you started seeing golds and reds and oranges from the folks in Bloomington Illinois. There was even an Empress II in the same harvest gold as this stick vac. But I don't think you saw this gold on Eurekas after the start of the 1980's, when the Ultra Upright and the Express Canister came out. The nozzle is weird - it certainly is not the standard Eureka carpet nozzle or floor brush. And yes, the Kewl Eureka "E" is absent here - in it's place is a boring Helvetica "e". Maybe this is the very last incarnation of Eureka's "chrome-handled" stick vac before Electrolux started changing the traditional Eureka design. Just my two amps worth...... Great keeper for a collection though - enjoy! |

The nozzle on this vacuum was used on Eureka's real bottom of the line cleaners. I once found a bottom of the line JC Penney Eureka Princess "bug" canister with this style nozzle. |

Eureka used the "Electric E" logo alongside their stretched E-U-R-E-K-A lettering from about 1968 until 1983. Their (non-italicized) bold all-caps logo first appeared around 1978, and they used this particular version of the logo on their units themselves around 1983. They then italicized this same logo around 1986-87, but did not use it on the vacuums themselves until about 1988-89. |
