Thought it would be cool if everyone posted pictures here when their Compact arrives. :). To start off, I'll post the picture from the listing.

So who else won a Compact?

ugh

I envy you.... lucky! For that price, I could have not gotten my broken hoover 800!

I snagged one as soon as I saw the post here.

might get one.... for free

I got an email from the seller.

I had an ad saying I wanted a free or very cheap one.

He said he could get me a brand new one. (with a PN) for the cost of shipping.

!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!

I think he must have 50+ of these.

Be cautious, Brandon.

aeoliandave's profile picture
The seller is located in South Eastern Ohio. Calculate the shipping option costs for yourself and then decide from his quote how 'free' it is. As being revealed in other threads the seller is sending these out with the original box wrapped only in brown paper.

Yea

I know. But $35 shipping? How could I go wrong.

well.... it does not run.... Hmm. What could be the problem? A new never used (tested) vacuum does not work?

He has 2 that do not run...

Post# 63898 , Reply# 7   3/25/2009 at 19:31 (5,504 days old) by kirbyotronic ()

Dave, I requested to have mine shipped in a box instead. For me, paper just really doesn't do it. So far, all of them have arrived in perfect condition, but I don't want to take my chances. Since he had to order boxes, the shipping has been delayed so I won't get mine until next week. No problem I guess.

A Bit of Updating

compactelectra's profile picture
One of the issues that I have always had with vintage Compacts was that they leaked dust pretty bad. With a new second bag, a HEPA filter and the Envirocare paper bags, this thing filters exceptionally well.

Great Fred! Mine should arrive here next week, since he had to order boxes since I requested mine to be shipped in another box.

Did you buy one to use and another to keep NIB? I plan on keeping mine NIB, but of course I'll run it every now and then. :)

HEPA Motor Filter

Fred, how does the HEPA motor filter work for you? Does it seem to restrict airflow/suction any? I'm presently using the Filter Fresh, but it puts too much back pressure on the motor for me. As soon as I use up the three that I have, I'll stop using them. I hate to waste money! LOL!

Fred,
I haven't gotten mine yet. Yours looks great. Where did get the Evnirocare bags and the vacfx motor filter?

I haven't tested the machine with different filters, but now probably will when Tania comes down this weekend. I'll let you know the results. With the HEPA filter, it seems to drive the turbo brush well. That is real test.

Got mine, too!

Yay for NIB!

I opted for one without the Turbinette. Mine, too was wrapped in paper.. but the box didn't fare so well. One end of the brittle, dry cardboard had busted open--which I was able to tape back together with clear packing tape. I'll get over it.

The machine is perfect! So glad I got one.

The only issue I found is the hose is a bit sticky. I'll have to give it a bath at some point.

nib Compact winners

Fred,
Thanks for the info on the bags and filters. They are on the way! Of course I don't have the Compact yet.
I noticed there are instructions for C6 and C8 in the pictures. What is the correct model number for this machine? I thought I was getting the green machine with the "turbinitte". I didn't want the power nozzle. I have that with my TriStar and it makes the hose difficult to use. It seems to bind on the end because of the electric connections. To both Freds-your machines are beautiful!
Rob

Rob-

I think Fred N. may have gotten the wrong instruction manual with his machine.
Either that, or maybe he got an early production one, where they may have been using up some leftover C-6 manuals?

You should be getting a C-8 Compact--like Fred N. In the orange box, with the Turbinette.

Mine came with the C-8 manual... which Fred's should have too.

Post# 63978 , Reply# 28   3/26/2009 at 15:44 (5,503 days old) by kirbyotronic ()

Yay! I think I have a mini Cyclonic furniture turbo nozzle. I snagged it from a Tristar CXL that was a trade in at my brothers work, he wouldn't let me take the machine though. :(

Well, at least I got the full set of clear glitter attachments, some bags and a belt, and the turbo head....

C6 vs C8 Manuals

compactelectra's profile picture
The theory that they may have packed older manuals with later machines may hold water since the machines really didn't change and the average purchaser wouldn't care about model numbers. Greg got his C8 with a C6 manual. The "Compact Queen" Tania will be down this weekend and we will post some more intelligence then!

NIB Compact Winners Thread 5701

Vaccumalex got his Compact today, works great. I am impressed at how well the cyclonic head works. The head works as well as a power head. Sorry I can't post a photo I only have a regular camera. Haven't moved into the 21st century. Mine looks the same as the others. Pretty Cool!

Fred and Tania...

Congrats again Fred on your new toys! Gorgeous! It was great fun chatting with you and Tania, and joining you on your maiden voyage! What fun. I'm hoping to get one ordered this weekend. The poor sellers seem so overwhelmed, but very accommodating and friendly. Can't wait to get one... or two...

Hello Bill!

This early C-8 was a straigh-suction model but had the optional cyclonic turbinette which was an air-driven tool for your carpets. They did some available were these came from but I believe they have exhausted their supply.
It certainly is a beautiful machine and glad you got one!
Happy Vacuuming!
Tania
