I found this guy the day after Christmas Friday Dec 26th, at a Goodwill that is known for NEVER putting out vacuums EVER!!!

In fact i very seldom shop there but for whatever reason I got the *twingle* and I stopped.

What did I find? Probably the nicest Convertible 707 in exsistence...

Another find

The 707

Hey Chad

Im VERY fortunate to have thanks to Jeff Parker what is possibly the only example this side of the pond. Its absolutly outstanding :).

I believe Jeff told me this model had a pretty long production run of 71-75. Im guessing yours is from later in the run as it has a beige cord and I believe white wheels???.

Mine is pretty early(serial #0022407)and has a light grey cord and Seal Greige wheels.

The 1031 tools and manual came from Ebay about 6 months after I got the cleaner :).

I absolutly LOVE this machine as its so unlike anything we had over here- I know not everybody would agree tho lol!!!

Seamus,

Yeah this is a pretty wild cleaner,,and IIRC he also said that this was then a B or a C line cleaner, and not as promoted as the newer square hood and full hood cleaners. However It did have a long production run as you stated, and there are still alot of them around...

It's nice that he sent that over there for you. Too bad he's no longer on here. His knowledge is missed, by me anyway,...

The contributions on this forum of both Jeff Parker and Tom Anderson are missed by many of us, Chad :)

I spent the day with Tom Anderson at the Hoover Museum where we are both tour guides now.......and he is doing fine. He emphantically states he will never return to the vacuum group and who could blame him? He certainly did a superlative job putting the convention together without a lot of respect back.......and seeing things he gave away for free end up on flea-bay........ Well, Tom found out who is true friends really were........

Yes Jimmy, Tom has his all ducks lined up and his priorities straight.

I spent 30 minutes with Tom at the Historical Center on my November trip getting caught up on this & that. His contact info is now a closely held secret for friends only - I did mail him his Birthday Card for next week.

Tom Anderson, forever a towering presence in the Hobby.

Yes,

Sadly, yes. they are both gone, and not for the good of the club. And I agree with you Jimmy wholeheartedly theat some grevious injustices were done. But what's done is done, and thankfully I do keep up quite well with both Jeff and Michael, who have both also chosen to make themselves scarce as well..and their doing quite well also.

Incidentally I was unfortunate to not really get to know Tom quite that well, as some of you seem to be; before the whole mess began. Wheteher that has to do with certain circumstances, or things that I'm unaware of I still feel their loss here. Yes I was at convention, and had the opportunity to meet him again, as I was also at his well attended mini-meet last fall, and was beyond impressed with the job that all of you did to make that Convention memorable.

In fact I felt that I was quite free with my thanks to him and you for the hospitality. Ironically It just seemed that what I wrote then was either ignored, or not saw.

Consequently, other than touring his home, and purchasing a few things at his garage sale, I was never sent any machines, and looked to him more for his insights and connections due Hoover than anyting else.

It's great to hear thru continued connections that all is well. I want or need nothing from him, and stand by his decision to leav and not come back. After all that we saw, as you stated..who could blame him...

If you would be so good Jimmy, please pass on for me that I still feel sad about his loss, and do when the situation is appropriate, speak highly of him. I'm sure that he's quite well, and that he's happier now that he's out of the loop I s great.

On a final note..I have had my share of good and bad here on the forum, and for the contributions I try and give, some times people look and respond, but many do not. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. BUT..for the few who do respond , and chose to conversate, and consequently enjoy my ramblings that I offer, makes it WORTH the while. Cutting yourself off may make it easier, but who looses out...

That said I'm glad again everyone feel likewise. I'm glad that for once I'm not just a babe in the woods, and tha my thoughts are flet likewise by the consensus.

Chad,
I am glad to hear that everyone is well who is no longer in the group. I also regularly correspond with Michael, and have a time or two to Jeff also. If I were in the situation i would have left and only correspond with whom I felt fit, because once someone crosses me I feel that renders them useless to me and I will be sure to have nothing to do with them, I am in that position with a few people I work with(no longer have todeal with their incompetence since I work a better shift now, thanks to them)and for what happened for everyone to see, I don't blame anyone involved for leaving.
Also Chad, I always read your posts and thoroughly enjoy your explanations which do help in understanding things, I also try to reply to posts unless it is something I do not know anything about because I do not want to try and make something up, or if I don't have anything nice to say on a topic because I feel it is impolite to voice my opinion at that time because chances are it would offend someone.

A lot has been going on at home (family illnesses0 job, etc so much to do........ I've not added as much lately. I try to offend NO ONE, although, I may bother some. I won't reopen the messy memoirs about our lost members. I only spoke to Jeff quickly in Ohio. I'd have liked to speak more. Tom, I'm proud to call my friend. Confidence, descretion, etc are promised. Some might want to whisper a silent prayer for his family, though.. Details, I'm not at liberty to discuss. I DO call myself "most fortunate" to know several people in here: Tom, Sam, Rick (akabent) among others. I can truly say I am a better man because I know these people, in addition to all the "vac talk".

A final reply.... to this thread not concerning the Hoover 7

Looking the withal of this thread over, I personally feel that all of those who have the fortunate opportunity to do so, should a a later ( or when it's) convienent; drop those departed members a line if you have the wherewithal to do so. A nice note, or IM or just a how do, if you have not already, would be appropriate.

Not that you must, as many of us do this already, I know I do, exception being Tom as I'm unforutnatly unable to reach him out of reasons already specified. My previous contact information no longer connects me. I would, with appropriate info, let him know that I still think of him, and even that I truly miss his presence here. I know that I've put out that I wish for Tom to know my feelings, but wish if anyone would be willing to in my behalf say hello for me. I do not feel concrete in just having or asking one person to do so. In many cases my thoughts will fall on deaf ears.

Okay Im done with that.

Sam- Thank you for your reply. I know that you read and message me here on thngs you feel appropriate to do so. That said I feel quite solid in what we have as collector friends.

John- Im so happy that you still have contact with Tom. And I will now with this knowlege add them into my nightly prayer. Whatever is the case, I wish them only good will, happiness and prosperity as I would want one to wish onto me. I agree with your summary fully and have lamented myself on another thread that I am truly thankful for the new people I've met and have been fortunate enough to know better thru this place we may reffer to as a second home...LOL

Philip- (sp) Sorry if I missed a l. I echo your sentiments exactly.

And now I feel that this issue can come to a rest. I wanna talk sweepers...

Thanks to all who wrote...
