Does anyone remember those old bissels that were white and green. and i remember that the white part was lifted off the machine for canister use and then it was also an upright. they were sold in the 90's i think. it was called the lift off?

I remember them. I always wanted one as a kid... they came out when I was growing up. I though they looked cool. I've heard they were loud, not powerful, and not reliable, though I've never used one and cannot speak from personal experience.

Well, I'm 25 and they came out in the early or mid 90s. I remember seeing them on the Kmart shelves! I was glad to see that Bissell tried to redo this classic (for them) with a newer version... too bad it's a bagless though!

I too wanted one as a little one. I always thought that they were a great creation. I too never got to try one. I still want to though

I had one

And I have to say... a terrible cheap vacuum.... sorry... They lacked everything. Like using a vax vacuum... Neat design though

Bobby,
I am 2 years younger than you and also remember them at the K-mart. They came out after April 1994, which is when we bought our Hoover Runabout at K-mart, but it was before March 1996 which is when our K-mart closed. I always thought they were neat and wanted one but also had reservations about them because I hadn't heard of a Bissel vacuum prior to that and wondered how long they would be around.

Yeah.... my cheap parents got a Eureka Bravo from Kmart about that same time (96) when the Singer System and Dirt Devil MVP bit the dust...

Bissell had that vacuum on its web site for a LONG time after it stopped being produced, but it has since been removed.

Here's a link to a picture of the original version that I found... though the first one was green... this one doesn't appear to be green.

yea that was it

It was the cheapo of really cheap vacuums. Just awful. Super cheap plastic parts used. Way bad choice. Cant remember what we payed but it was overpriced. Quite working within months.

I like my dirt devil swift better. It cost us $19.99 at the hoover store on sale! From $40!!!

Bobby,

That is the one I remember and I thought it was dark like that, I think it was a real deep purple or if it was green it was a dark hunter green.
As for Price I do believe they went for either $199 or $249, They may have possibly been in either the Sears Roebuck or J.C.Penney catalog at that time.

I remember those. I ran that through Boscoves vacuuming everything including the shelves. I must disagree when I used it, it worked very well and I was like 3 or 4 so I could operate it and I didnt break it or my parents I would still be grounded. That was also when the Fantoms were in the stores. Then again all of our vacuums have lasted a long time. Like our fantom thunder lasted for 7 years then its motor finally went. I loved that vacuum. It picked up good but then we got a Dyson so were keeping the Dyson tradition in the Strittmatter house alive!

Monica had a green and white Bissell "Lift-Off" sitting in her kitchen in one episode of "Friends."
