Hi wise folks!

Hoping someone may be able to help me with a little problem we're having with our 18 month old Sentria...

We keep the machine in clean good running order - and honestly it doesn't get used a lot as only 4 bedrooms in the house are carpet - the rest are horrid tiles!! Anyhow - the last couple of times I've used the Sentria for the bedrooms, upon start-up the brush-roll leaves what looks like an oily mark on the carpet. It did it this morning in the master suite, then - (getting annoyed now as this is the second mark it's left) I took the brushroll out and wiped the bristles and timber over with a damp cloth, re-inserted the brushroll. Started on the second room - and it's still gone and left this oily looking mark...

The odd part about it is that if the Sentria is running and I hold it in the one place (which I know you really shouldn't do!) it doesn't leave any type of mark. It's only when you start it - or rather start it and then lower the head down to carpet level...

Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Being that Kirby's aren't as widely known in Australia - I really don't know who I should be asking...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers Steve & Craig...

Hi!

Is the belt worn? I once was vacuuming with a Convertible I just brought home without checking the belt first and it was in a stage of starting to split and as it got hot the inside rubber of the belt started to melt and leave black streaks in the rug. I turned off the vacuum immediately and found out what the problem was once I turned the vacuum over.

Did you wipe off the bottom plate as well? Maybe the leak is coming from another source, the wheels or the motor perhaps?

Marty

PS, I like your screen name hehehe.

Thanks for your suggestions guys... I've checked everything - including giving it a thorough clean - however it still does it... It's really weird...

But - she's going in for a service on the weekend and the dealer told me that he'll search high and low for any issues that could be causing it... I love my Sentria - and wouldn't give it up for anything in the world. And in saying that - as a daily driver - does anyone have any experience in the Lux??

I like the look of this one - almost like an old Tr-Star...?? But was wondering if anyone has any experience with these...

Shall I post the results of the service??

So there was no melting of the belt? And when you said you wiped off the bristle and the roller was there any oily residue on the cloth?

Possible issues...

Hi Streakers. I'm sure you've already verified these... however, ...is the stainless steel rug plate on (no mention if it is) the bottom of the rug nozzle? ...secondly, as Marty mentioned above, is the belt stretched (line up a new one over the old one to see if it needs to be changed)? Hope this helps! Bill
