Does anyone have pics of Kenmore Powermate canisters from the late 70's and early 80's. I prefer those over the swivel mount canisters that appeared in '85. Looks like a lot of people have Hoover brochures, just wasn't sure about the Kenmore. I grew up with those and the Eureka roto-matic powerteams. We actually had a Sear's Best Kenmore Powermate canister from about the time I was born....1980 until last year! Granted, it sat in the basement most of the time...but it was still kicking!

I have some Sears catalogs from that time period but we just moved so much of my stuff is still in boxes and unsorted. Are you talking the blue ones or the green ones? Doug Smith up in Moose Jaw Canada has an extensive collection and there are some Kenmores on his website. He dropped by for a visit just before I moved in August and brought his vac photo albums along so I think he has even more pictures than what he has posted. I know when we were house hunting here I was in someones basement and saw a 70's Powermate in the laundry room, a blue one, but I didn't think it approrpriate to ask them if I could buy it seeing as I had no intention of buying their house LOL
Here's his link

Awesome Kenmore Marty! What attachment is that to the left of the crevice tool? Is that a de-mothing device? The vac looks like someone bought it and put it away, gorgeous!

Hi Rick!

That's actually a clothes brush. Has a lttle twirly bottle brush type brush that spins when the vacuum is on. It an actual Kenmore attachment!

Marty
