A Hoover vacuum was posted on my local FreeCycle group, and I told the person posting it that I would take it not knowing anything about the model This was the model posted; Elite 2 Total System Performance 430. I'm assuming it is an upright. Any info on it would be appreciated.

Wow, you must really like Elites, huh?

Similar to this machine, though likely less-deluxe hose. Who knows what color.

I can't say that I like or dislike them, never used one before. I wanted it for a friend of mine who is borrowing my Hoover Convertible. The person who posted it said the most of the attachments were lost, but the hose is there. Attachments are easy to find. Is it a decent vacuum?

Good carpet cleaner... but the belt change procedure is fussy. The 7+amp models are also kinda loud. You will want to avoid inhaling coins or stones with these machines.

The type A bags are easy to find, but the belts sometimes are not.

yay

I love both my elites. I find them light and powerful. There is one at a thrift store near me let me know if you need attachments I can probably scrounge some up there. This machine can be a bit noisy and swingette is right about the belt change you have to kind of pry off the top of the machine forcefully but not forceful to break a retaining tab. I am so inspired I am gonna run mine this afternoon.

I haven't heard back from the person who posted it, but if I do I think I will take it for my friend. The vac that she really wants is my Electrolux AE, but I'm not going to give it up without a fight. Thanks for your offer Matthew, if I need some, I will let you know

Happy Vacuuming
Jim
