As I told everyone in an earlier thread, the motor in my TriStar's PN died. I found the correct motor on eBay, and it came very quickly. When I examined the motor, I found it was labelled, "Ametek Shanghai Co. Ltd."
Now Ametek is a brand I know and trust, but I didn't know they were sourcing motors in China now. Anyone know if they're as good as ever, or if the switch has made a difference?
BTW, the power nozzle seems to be good as new. Very comforting to know my favourite vac is back in good shape, and doubly comforting to know that no further wiring damage was done when the old motor burned out - I was a little worried about that.

I know some new Ametek motors are identified as being made in China, and some are still US/Mexico made. I think the smaller, cheaper motors (p/h motors, 5.7" vacuum motors) are coming from China, and the larger ones (3 stage or 7.2" 2 stage central vacuum motors) are still made somewhere on this continent. Not sure why that is, I've just noticed that the larger, pricier ones still have the US designation.
