When did Filter Queen introduce there Power Head? 		[Down to Last]

I am working on some filter queens and found a model 31 with the original power head and was wondering if it might be the first power head for the filter queen? Sadly I do not have the original hose.

When did Filter Queen introduce there Power Head?

 I guess we need to wait to see if Evan, or another Filter Queen lover has the answer, but I'll dare guess 1974-1975. It seems that that was around the time that most manufacturer's who werent already on the bandwagon, started to get with it, and offer a powered brush, or beater brush nozzle.

This was brought up before, but it seems that Kenmore was technically first electrically driven powernozzle as we know it in 1957-58 with the Power-Mate optional on several different models, and Whirlpool, who made all Sears vacuum's at that time, were also putting out their own version's at the same time. This was followed by Lewyt in 1958-59 with the Electronic, and one other model that was not as problematic, and Electrolux with their PN1 in 1959-60 I believe.

After that Eureka seemed to have a proper powered nozzle by 1972 or so with the Roto-Matic, and then Hoover in 1974 or 75 with it's PowerMatic.

Air-Way having it's own long history with powernozzle add on's happened duirng the 1960's and 70's with various heads,some of them being reconstituted upright vacuum cleaner heads by Hamilton Beach and Eureka; then Compact, Douglas, Electro-Hygiene, FairFax, General-Electric, Premier, Royal, Rexair, Sunbeam, Singer, Thermax amongst others all jumped in during the duration of the 1970's. Each brand either using thier own design, or a design supplied for it by a supplier.

An example is the Eureka Roto-Matic head was used by both Compact, FairFax and Rexair.

The Hoover Head was used by Hoover and FairFax and Thermax

My mom bought her 2nd Filter Queen in 1972 and it had a power head. The head and hose were sort of a coral colour.

This is the first style of Powerhead I have come across from Filter Queesn and it was with a model 31. Not certain of the date, however, but it should have been early 70's.

I used to have that exact powerhead. It was made for them by Progress of Germany. At the old vac shop where I got it, the owner told me it was made for the machines that cleaned airplanes, because the small size could get in between the seats. I don't know how true this is, as I've never heard of FQ's being used on planes.

Well,
I found the date on the motor of mine and it is 1972 and it is the coral or salmon or pinkish color. It has a ton of power as all FQ's did. The power head might have been a replacment from a later 33 or something like that but it is in the same matching coral color.? i will get pictures posted.
Oh by the way did the power heads have any dates stamped on them anywhere so I could tell when it was made. I know the motor in the canister has it stamped in the metal and you have to search for it but it's there. I can not find anything like that on the power head. Thanks guys for the info.
