I was wondering around town today looking in all the second hand shops. We have LOADS of charity shops round here and I like to go in and look at the records (I'm a vinyl collector). Not many sell electrical items as they need to be tested. I was in Age Concern and they had a Panasonic MCE-53 stood in the window for £7.50!! It was caked in dust. I asked the assistant if i could test it out. The belt had gone and it was all clogged up and some bright spark had put a Turbopower bag in which had fallen out and spilled dust all inside it. She let me have it for a fiver. I got it home, replaced the belt, bag, filters. Took it to bits and washed everything in hot soapy water. It smelt really musty. It must have been stood around for a while. I put a few drops of rosewood oil in the water to help with the smell. A wipe down and a toothbrush in all the crevices on the body followed by a polish and it looks fantastic and runs like new. It's not exactley a light weight machine compared to the MCE-40 machines but the 900w motor has a nice sound to it and the suction power is fantastic! Much better than a brand new 1700w bagless. The hose is ridiculous short though. I think there was an extension hose available when you bought these. Pics below. You'll have to copy and paste the links.

Good deal and yes I think the wands are missing. If they're the same as the US/Can Panasonics they're just those generic plastic wands that come with them new.. nothing fancy at all.

They were a more upmarket range...

...compared to the MC-E40 range.

I liked the look of them; more elegant and streamlined than the MC-E40 range.

Here be a television advert:
