Looks like an ordinary Eureka-made compact canister, doesn't it? Guess again! You can't tell in this picture, but it has been modified with a 7.1-amp motor. It is much bigger than the original motor (with bad bearings, and the commutator didn't look too good either). At first, it was way too big to go into the machine as there wasn't enough clearance in the base, but I was able to use two motor mounting gaskets on top of each other so it would (just barely) fit. However, it was successful, and voila, the Super Bradford monster vac! The suction is just tremendous compared to the old motor...I'll definitely have to bring this one next year, even if it is just for laughs!

And now, another power drive Concept One, model U3109. This one is more BOL (and louder) than my other Concept, a U3101; no cord reel or headlight and it's only 1 speed. Doesn't appear to have received much use; Mother's mag wheel polish (the best stuff EVER) took care of the scuffing on the base and now it looks great! Any idea on what year this one is? The switch hasn't been moved to the handle grip yet; still below the handle like the others.

I don't think I've ever seen that bol Concept One model before. She is rather dowdy isn't she..

Finally, a Hoover "big wheel" Portable 2260. Definitely well-loved (bag mount is rusty, crevice tool and upholstery brush were in horrible shape and couldn't be saved, and don't ask about the horrendous amount of birdseed and rocks I vacuumed out of the bag chamber), but cleaned up a little better. Floor and upholstery nozzles are in good shape and have all of their rubber 'spikes'. The plug has been replaced, and the cord reel seems to have a problem pulling the last 20" or so of cord back in as seen here. Will have to check that out.

Very Nice Finds!!!

Austin..

I love that Bradford.. what a cool looking machine. The other machines are nice too. I have the original green Hoover Portable that Tom G. gave me. They are neat vacuums. I enjoyed talking to you on the phone last night, was gonna call you back and then we just got busy playing with vacuums and eating, but I'll get your # from Tom and give you a call sometime :)

Talk to ya soon,
Derreck
