In a roundabout way, this was given to me by a very dear friend.

I've wanted a Legend II for a long time. Such a beautiful Kirby. One of the most
The tools need a run through the dishwasher... they're a bit dusty. Runs like a dream, and is freshly buffed. I'll need to get some of the new high filtration bags.

Yay for new toys!

Wow, congratulations! I almost had a heart attack, since the Legend II looked like it was NIB! In that case, I'd be very jealous. :)

The D80 and Legend II are some of my favorites, too.

After touring the Kirby factory this past summer Fred, I can appreciate what you see in those machines even more :-)

It's stunning, Fred! The Legend II is my favourite also...I've had 3 of them over the past few years. I love that high-pitched whine they make. The colour combination is very appealing, too - I think red suits Kirbys very well. My all time favourite colour-scheme would be the G5.

Looking at your pictures, I wish I still had one of my own, but I just find them a little big and clumsy to be practical in my home, which is split over 4 levels - so lots of carrying up and down stairs! If they'd offered it with the smaller head, it might just have been perfect!

As Robert says, I have renewed respect for Kirby, having seen first-hand how much care and attention goes into each machine.

Fred, what a beautiful machine. I have to agree with Robert after touring the factory and talking to the workers there it does give one a whole new respect for Kirby!!

I seem to recall there being a "small head" Heritage II or Legend II. Anyone else recall that?

Really nice. I have the black/red Heritage Legend II with a smaller head than that I think.. I can't quite tell from you picture angle though.

Congrats Fred!

The Legend II is my favorite Kirby! I think it's the color of the bag. What a wonderful machine.

I herd that there was a small head for these machines but have never seen one. The last one I saw was on the Heritage 84. I love the Legend II, it is my favorite to use. I think that the Heritage through Legend II were the best cleaning machines Kirby ever made. Nothing against pre or post Kirby's, I love them very much as well. The Legen II was the first Kirby I ever bought ( not however the first I ever got) My first was a mint Classic III ( I still have) that someone gave to me. I used it as the daily driver for a while then bought the Legend II also mint for $300.00. I used the heck out that thing. I still have it as well though both are retired form daily use.

Fred,

I'm so glad you received a Legend II!!. I was just about ready to send you mine but I would have hated parting with it even for a good home.

Many Kirby salespeople and managers, considered the Legend II to be the best Kirby ever made even today. It is interesting to note, that so many collectors have one. (I can hook you up with bags if needed!)

As you know, my Kirby's consist of the Dual 50, Dual 80, Classic III, Legend II, Generation 3 and Sentria. As a collector, I am of the opinion that they are all special for a number of reasons.

Again, I am so happy you have one as I have known you wanted one for some time. Have fun with it!!

Fondly,
Charlie/GD

Congrat, Fred!! ... on your Legend II.
I do love that color scheme.
My mom had the Heritage II which I have stowed in a box.
There Heritage II replaced their Dual 80 they bought in the late 60's
Planning to either have it buffed or doing it myself ... have all the shop tools from my dad's hardware store ... could be great fun.
I can picture my face full of buffing dust from ear to ear.
I always thought those vacuums were fairly well balanced to push for non self propelled machines.
Enjoy!!
Pat

think ive seen the small head on ebay. will a Legend II belt lifter fit on a Sanitronic nozzle? Can you simply make your own small nozzle?

i prefer the narrower nozzles too.

A New To Me Kirby

Fred,
Here is mine. It really is the vac I use for everyday use. I bought it new in 1988-89 just after we built the house and before I was collecting vacs. As you remember it was always kept in the coat closet at the front door. Now in the new house it is still in a closet just inside the back door. I really like the color combination. I know you will enjoy the machine. Your's is a beauty!
Rob

I love my Legend II, I wish I had the attachments that match it. I got a set of attachment off of eBay, but they are black. I have two hoses, one is a modern gray plastic hose and the other one is a black/silver plastic hose.

Cragratulations Fred. You'll love your Legend, Kirby.
Mine is the older one with the black trim. I was always
In love with the 500 series, then I saw the Dual80, fell
in love with it. Then owned a brand new Classic in the 70's
(when I was married). Then got my Legend 12 years ago (used
but in mint shape) when I bought my own home. It is still
my very favorite of all my Kirby's. It is my daily driver !
