Hello all:

Polishing the Kirbys was one of today's chores, and while using Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish is not a difficult task, it is time consuming...especially when there are eight machines to shine. While I was polishing, I got to thinking...

My one Heritage II has the redesigned, less bulky rug nozzle, while the other Heritage II has the former, large nozzle that was introduced on the Classic. Has anyone here seen this older nozzle on the Heritage II?

Any ideas as to why this is so?

Both machines have the original name/serial number plates on the bottom attesting to the fact that they are the Heritage II model.

The serial numbers do not make sense either, as the one on the large nozzle machine is higher than the one on the redesigned nozzle machine.

I am really curious.

And then...

The motor housings are different too.

The large nozzle machine has the housing that was used on the Heritage, without the cooling openings.

But what about the serial numbers that don't seem to make sense?

Any thoughts or words of wisdom is really welcome!

Thanks loads,

Joe

Since ive limited experience with Kirby, im curious about any weight difference between the two nozzles.

Though I've not weighed the two of them...

There is a definite weight difference between the two machines. When picked up, one really notices that the "Classic" nozzle version is heavier than the trimmed down version.

This was built in 84

Hi the larger head was used on the 1984 models, then the first slim heads 1985 didnt have the green brush light indicators then in 1986 the indicator was introduced.

If you still have both of these Heritage IIs, five years later, could you please read the serial numbers off of both of them?

The one with the old-style nozzle casting (141684S) would have a serial number ranging between X8409XXXXX (September 1984) and X8502XXXXX (February 1985), whereas the one with the slim nozzle (141685S, no BPI light) would range between serial number X8503XXXXX (March 1985) and X8602XXXXX (February 1986).
