Does anyone know if Electrolux made these? Were they any good at grooming? I notice on the back where the push button on/off, there is a button that says "push"...what's that for? Was it a clean air machine, or fan first? Guy CLICK HERE TO GO TO funvacfan's LINK on eBay |

It clogged so readily that a stick came with it to unclog it. It has been a very long time since I have even seen one of these! R |

Indeed this was lux's first attempt at an upright vac. first ones were out about 82, very good suction, groomed carpets well, butt......they were very heavy and rather awkward to vacuum around furniture with. They only had one motor. Think Hoover DAM design,, Only this lux had a clutch assembly on the belt side for the brush to protect the motor. There were tools available also, they connected at the top of the bag housing, you had to open the bag compartment door and insert an adapter and attach the hose to that, the tool kit also came with a plastic plate to put under the machine over the brush roll to protect your carpets from the brush if you forgot to raise the height selector all the way up. The button on the back that says PUSH is the handle release. These were clean air vacs, dirt went directly to the bag through a rather small hose and into small duct up the back of the vac and into the top of the bag door, across and dropped down into the large bag. However this vac did have a tendency to clog which is why it came with a clean out rod built in to the back of the main vac body. But these really were built very well, which is why they r still running today. Bags are still available for them too |

Rick, The two motor models came later. This one, (we are discussing from the pic), matched the Olympia. Then next matched the J/Gold J. As mentioned, they were very bulky and heavy and LOUD! I bought one about 4 years ago, new in the box, never used, on ebay and still have it. It is unique in that the height adjuster adjusts all four wheels making it very effective for correct height. IMHO, it is a fair performer. The bag is way too long so when it is about 1/3 to 1/2 full, there is quite a bit of reduced suction. The attachments were bulky too. The later twin motor uprights, (think Discovery), were much lighter, easier to maneuver, quieter and had a better bag design. The twin motors also made them much more effective cleaners. Charlie W. |

Dirtfinder1, I WOULD love to have a set of the attachments if you have more than one! I will be happy to pay you for them. I've been trying to find a set for a long time. I did manage to get several packs of original Lux bags for mine. I'm sure there will some left over by the time I'm gone and it will still be running! Please email me if you can help. Thanks, Charlie |
