I'm kind of hoping I'll get out bid, as I placed a maximum that's a little more than I want to pay for it. If you want to out bid me, go for it :), just ask me for my max bid...

If I do win, I want to know about it. Is the bag original? Is this a two speed model? Is it "rare", if so how much do you think it's worth? Also, is it supposed to have an aluminum trim piece above the headlight (as well as my golden model 65)?

Thanks,
~Alex

Well if it's the one that i'm thinking about on ebay it is all original. I think they are rare because you don't see many anymore, however they made a ton of themfrom 1960-1962 (according to my list 150,000 were made) I was the first bidder on it but I really don't need it as I already have one. I think it will go for some big bucks but you never know with ebay. I just won that commercial convertible 344 for 26.00 in great shape.(unlike the one with the 75.00 buy it now) I would have thought that the commercial I won would go for much more. Phillip

as for your golden 65 ( the model that is my Holy Grail, that and the rare 574) it was the 50th anniversary model sold only to dealers and NOT for resale. 20,000 of these goldens were made in 1958 and at the same time the Green model 66 was the official 50th anniversary model for the customers.

I forgot the trim,
The 65,66,67,and 68 had the trim. My 66 has plastic gold trim around the headlight. I am not sure what color the others had.

Sorry...

About out bidding you. My maximum bid isn't too much higher from the current bid. Let me know of you want to out bid me, I'll be fine :).

I am glad that I was outbid. After I bid I thought ( oh crap I really don't need this) I am sure that we both will be way outbid though. As for the picture, let me try and get one. I will be getting many pictures as soon as I get more organized. I had a vacuum/bedroom built and I am just waiting for the final touches. I am hopeing and praying that it will get down within two weeks.

"I think they are rare because you don't see many anymore, however they made a ton of them from 1960-1962 (according to my list 150,000 were made)." Yes, time makes them somewhat of a rarity. You're much more likely to see a plastic-based convertible, for the simple reason they were produced later. Also, many of these early convertibles may have been discarded of for the simple reason that the vinyl bag material did not hold up over time. When did Hoover (what model) finally correct this problem?
