I am looking for a hard floor tool for this vacuum. Is anyone able to help. Thanks

Hey there... I don't have one, but you know what the original looked like, don't you?

I don't want to tell you something you already know... I think you know your machines pretty well!

nope

I have never seen the original. I love using this machine. Unfortunatley not having the hard floor brush is annoying me.

Actually I would just call your local vac shop and ask them for a generic. I have seen them in 12 and 10 inch lengths and some with wheels. Get one of those.

Well

I am not much for generic. I really want the actual part. It will turn up eventually.

Matt... that machine was made by Eureka for Wal-mart about 6 or so years ago. I sold the Eureka counterpart for Sears when I sold vacuums for Sears. Not too loud, and pretty powerful. Plus, very attractive.

The one that would have come with the machine (if any, not sure if the GE version had it, the Eureka did) is the same straight suction nozzle you'd find on a Eureka Mighty Might canister... so at least you'll know what to look for! I like it because of the wheels on the back, but it is friction fit only and can fall off.

Good luck finding it!

If that's the case......Eureka still carries a variety of floor tools/brushes.....

Check it out-

the tool

should have notches on the back to where it can rest on the main unit. I guess if I do not find it I will have to do something else. I love this vacuum.

If my memory serves me right I do not remember seeing a floor tool with these when they first came out at Wal-Mart. And if it did it was the same as the Eureka parts at the time.

Matt... the Eureka version did have that notch that you were talking about. If the GE came with the bare floor tool, I imagine it would have had the notch too.

I liked the Eureka version a little better because it had a quick release power nozzle (of course at Sears, it had to compete with the Kenmore canisters which all but the bottom of the line had the quick release). Though the GE power nozzle is much more attractive. They also had a bagged and bagless upright that were GE branded at the same time.... again just for Wal-mart.

I almost got one of those (the green GE canister) on Craig's List about a year ago. Some guy had it listed for 20 bucks. He said it was his neighbors and he just wanted to get rid of it. He kept re-listing it. I wrote him and told him that was a great price and I was surprised it hadn't sold. He told me I could have it for free. I told him that would be great, then I could add it to my collection. Then I tried to make arrangements to pick it up and he told me he'd rather give it to someone who NEEDED a vacuum, not a collector! A few days later, it was back on CL for 100 bucks! What a flake! He's probably still got it, nobody would pay that price for a used one... and if he did sell it, it's probably clogged with legos and stuffed animal stuffing in a dumpster somewhere by now!

hey

ok thats crazy about the man and his vac. I paid twenty for mine from a really hot bulgarian guy lol. Just a little fyi and how I like to handle things. I never tell people who are going to give me a vac I am a collector unless its a friend or someone who obviously knows me. Point being they assume its worth like a million bucks at that point just because I want it. UUMMM not!! the case. Sometimes I just want it because I want it. Not because I am gonna get something for free and sell it and cut you outta the deal. I do have to say dealing with people in florida is not exactly pleasant to say the least.

I had someone email me about a vintage mini fridge they had and I never heard from them again after they offered it to me. It was so depressing.

True true... we still need to have a mini florida meet and play with machines all day long.... I went back to the archives and read the post when you got your Broom Vac now that I have one of my own... Do you still not use it? You said you were going to save it to preserve it or something! I can't put mine down... I've already taken it to friends houses and even vacuumed under the bed for the first time in a year... that was scary! I doubt I'll touch another machine for 2 months until the novelty wears off! But, I'm getting off the subject... back to you and your Eureka/GE canister...

I hope you find the bare floor tool...they should be readily available and pretty cheap too. I liked them because they didn't have brushes (just red crushed "velvet" strips and a squeegee). And they had wheels too.. nice big ones in the back, and IIRC smaller ones in the front that held it just high enough that it didn't push the dirt out of the way before the suction could get it. Sometimes the bare floor tools are annoying if the are just a brush with no wheels.

My favorite bare floor tool is the Dyson low reach one... I don't know if it will fit all vacuums, but I like the tool better than the Dyson Vacuum. I acutally use it on my Kenmore Iridium when I need to do a lot of bare floors (which doesn't happen much in my 1 bedroom apartment!).

In looking at the link that emptor-64 posted, the original tool would have looked like one one in this link... but this one doesn't have the notce that fits in the groove on the body of th cleaner....
